Oh and fired from Russia

Dont seem like the right choice to me
Now you put it that way. He's perfect for England!

We need to stop spending money on shit managers and players and give it all to grass routs. Every community should have managed 4g facilities that are free to use. coaching training should be free. Eventually things would improve.

Managers and players should give their time with England for free. In many other sports, players have to pay for the privilege of playing for their country.

This might be nuts, but I reckon the famed Dutch tactical genius that is LVG could be a good choice.

  • Won't take shit from the press
  • Been an international manager before and done pretty well.
Having said that, we'd probably be stuck with Pooney on midfield - I'd want anyone in charge provided they'd kick him out of the squad.

As for Hoddle -no chance. Though I have sympathy for him regarding how his beliefs were reported. I heard the interview at the time and it came across as him trying to comprehend why some people were born with problems whilst others weren't. It was more a case of him trying to fit that into his belief system and he was struggling with it.

Klinsmann would be my choice, he would be a breath of fresh air, and he would be respected by the players. Also he has managed both Germany, and the USA, and played in the premier league.

I agree. Not sure if the little Englanders would agree though

Someone, anyone who can have the guts and balls to get some midfield powerhouses from the first Division who would put themselves about on the pitch and would have been berating our team in that Iceland game. We've gone all tippy tappy possesion football and I dont think that is our game.

I cant remember anyone since Ince who actually did that for England. There must be some but I cant think of them. Maybe Sherwood?

The team is full of middle class career footballers, they need some good old grit and players who have struggled through life. Mix them with our talent base and we have won the next world cup. Promise.

Klinsmann putting his hat into the ring according to SSN.

Thank fxck we are leaving the EU, otherwise Angela Merkel would be pulling our political strings and Klinsmann in charge of our football team. That would be a piss take!

Klinsman is my choice though. Liked him since his diving celebration days, he is one of the best things that ever happened to English football.

That type of football doesn't win tournaments.

I think the issue is about not being technically or tactically good enough. Sticking lee cattermole in midfield isn't going to help break down a well organised defence.
People saying we need to go back to the "good old England" style of grit, random hoofing and workhorses clearly are deciding to just forget how successful we were(n't) when we used these tactics.

Klinnsman would be a good shout but I think it should be Fat Sam

He is used to dealing with players who arnt as good as they think they are, he gets players motivated and playing as a team, if they wont join in they get binned ASAP

He isnt afraid to play basic long ball football if our midfield cant handle it, but also studies football and gets teams passing fast and moving it fast. Bolton were a long ball team at first under him but by the time he left there he had them playing good football and even got them into Europe.
Plus he is used to dealing with what he has got and getting the most out of it

The clamour for Hoddle from some people is astonishing. I heard some daft twat on the radio yesterday (might have been Redknapp Senior) saying Hoddle is the obvious candidate and he couldn't think of a single reason why he shouldn't get the job. How about the fact that he hasn't even worked as a football manager for the last ten years!

So he'll have forgotten how to do it then? Is that really your point?

But that's my argument, we are good enough. Those players were playing teams in the qualifiers of the same ilk and we stepped all over em. The players are well good enough.

I do think sticking "Lee Cattermole" into a midfield of talent would be the engine of the team. Who does that right now? Rooney? Not so sure.
We got the technical ability, it is the grit and confidence in ourselves we dont have at finals.

But we're not talking about winning tournies, we are talking about getting further than we do, further than Iceland! That sort of football worked for them, we need those strong characters. Not neccesarily talking about kick and rush football, but more the fight and confidence that we obviously need.

I doubt he will of forgotten but it makes me laugh the Hoddle shouts every time. He has been out the game so long, had a stint at QPR which was a car crash and whilst I take anything Joey Barton says with a pinch of salt apparently he described him as a dinosaur. Football changes and evolves and I doubt you would be at the top of your game after such a long absence. Oh and he's a fucking wank pundit.
