Sane leaves German squad/Congratulations Leroy! (p13)

Löw took four players for the wings - Müller who functioned great with Kimmich and had 5 goals and 7 assists in the qualifiers, Reus who missed out the recent 2 tournaments because of injuries, Draxler his captian during the ConfedCup and Brandt.

If somebody was left at home unfairly it was Sandro Wagner who even joined Bayern in January to have better chances. He functioned in all matches he played as striker, was great in a substitute role either for Germany and for Bayern - playing exactly the role we needed together with the same players who play for Germany. He had 3 assists from Müller and 2 of Kimmich for his goals at Bayern... Instead he took Gomez and Petersen (and for the tournament only Gomez was left).

Brandt was very disappointing and a waste of a fiver in the golden boot betting.
 
If the rumours are true, his gf gave birth. Any father would have that in his mind, hoping for the safe arrival of his child. Maybe this is something Pep already knew but was reluctant to disclose to the media. Well done if that’s the case.
Leroy may turn out be be a real monster now his child is here.
Good for us.... awful news for PL defenders.

You are defending Löw's points, but I feel they are quite weak.

Even if 10 not good enough Leverkusen players would have to be left out, so what? It's not about clubs, only about individual players.

Now, about the choice from those 5 wingers.
Draxler was rewarded for playing a good fuckin Confec cup 2017. Wow. Draxler, warming the bench at PSG, not a natural winger, and not good enough to play an 8 or 10 at big clubs, the eternal talent still waiting for his big moment. Shining as Confed cup captain, invisible when it counts on the big stage.

Brandt, quite similar to Draxler, too soft. Not a bad winger, but I have seen him missing sitters just far too often. Bit unfair, but I use to think: "bottler".
Choosen because he was dropped 2016 and Löw didn't have the balls to do it again. Weak argument.

We even could discuss a lot about Müller over the last years, and Wagner just isn't top notch.
Your view seems to be a bit too much Bayern Munich driven there...

We have seen since last autumn Germany did have problems to score. Leroy has proven over a strong PL season to be a threat against deep sitting teams, exactly that was the problem of the German game. Possession without creating chances against tight defences.

I keep saying Löw's criteria were too much based on personal feelings and not enough on facts.
Form is a fact, and comparing the wingers to choose from, Leroy was no. 1 on form back then.
