Having said that, having spoken to a couple of Saudi women, they definitely have high hopes for bin Salman's changes and saw him as a positive influence (admittedly, this was before he dismembered a journalist).

Never underestimate the power of money
The cunts at uefa and fifa would bend over at the thought of trillions in their coffers.
The Saudis are not stupid and are already mopping up sport and lots of other things around the world.
However difficult it may be to emulate European leagues they will find a way to infiltrate footballs governing bodies because money rules everything.

Uefa need to wake up. The Saudi league is a serious threat to all European leagues. The first thing they need to do is bin FFP completely. That would help the top European clubs trying hang onto the best players. Let clubs like Bayern pontificate all they want and Red Top clubs sitting on debt suffer.

I suppose it depends how much ordinary Saudis will be affected by modernists, on the one hand, and the religious, on the other. It's not as cut and dried as the UAE, Bahrain, even Qatar imho. There are generations of religious rhetoric and dogma to get through.

Uefa need to wake up. The Saudi league is a serious threat to all European leagues. The first thing they need to do is bin FFP completely. That would help the top European clubs trying hang onto the best players. Let clubs like Bayern pontificate all they want and Red Top clubs sitting on debt suffer.

FFP shouldn't be binned entirely, but owners should be able to invest their own money. There is a happy medium to be found. Maybe owners being allowed to inject an additional 50-100M each season on top of revenue. In it's current form, it prevents new teams from really making a splash.

You wont get me going to Saudi for a holiday in a luxury resort while there is a traditionalist / religious / modernist conflict going on, put it that way.

Well yeah, but you've kinda got to understand what came before him. Women currently living under the Taliban would probably switch it out for a life in Saudi, for example. It's all relative.

If they get the stars they're after then it'll get watched. There are millions round the globe who follow players now rather than a team. Also, the pundits and journos will get paid a bucket load to write it up. Their virtue signalling will disappear once the first cheque clears.
