savic watch

Really like him - top, top potential, so calm and assured on the ball.

With Kompany, Lescott, and Savic we have a really strong set of defenders. I do think we need a good fourth CB too as a day may arrive when both Kompany and Lescott are out or need resting. I don't think it will be Kolo so is likely to be Boyata or a new signing. Rekik at the age of 16 is at minimum 2-3 years away from regular first team football and will go through the process of loans first one would think. Wabara is promising but still sceptical on his chances of making it with us.
well this may be out of topic but..
what about gary cahill.he will be perfect for us, less salary than kolo, less buying money.
though savich is the real deal.
may be next year boyata would be the fourth cb and savic will be out on loan(if things does not go well).for this kolo should be sold though(which i am not sure will be a good idea or not)

No, just no.

Savic won't be going on loan, he's already twenty, played in the Champions league with his previous team and is a regular international for Montenegro. You don't send someone with that experience on loan.

I thought he did really well last night, even taking into account how poor Villareal were.

One thing I don't understand is peoples obsession with his passing ability (or more to the point, Lescott's lack of). The reality is that we are chock full of players who can pass the ball, and the vast majority of our attacking play is built studiously from NDJ/Yaya/Barry collecting the ball in our half and dictating play from there. It matters not one jot IMO whether both of our centre halves can play 5 - a - side like a Brazilian. I care only that they defend resolutely and dominate their opponents whether that be aerially or on the ground.

It remains to be seen whether Savic will develop into the player we'd like him to. I remember when Mancini blooded Boyata he was being lauded because of his "ball playing" skills.
It's more just a bit of composure i think, not his passing ability as such. Being able to play the ball around a pressing forward into your midfield, doesn't take huge skill, just a bit of calm and confidence.

Lescott can get a bit panicky, whereas Savic always seems pretty cool and in control. Makes it easier to control a game when you know you can trust your central defenders to keep the ball.

If he fullfills his potential he is going to be some centre half. Has that Dave Watson solidity about him (D'oh, that's just cursed the poor kid!)
