Scariest away day following City

The scariest time for me was away at Filbert Street Leicester in an FA Cup replay in 1966. It wasn't problems with the Leicester fans but overcrowding in the narrow Terrace area opposite the main stand. Some of us had to climb over the wall and sit on the running track to watch the remainder of the match. Fortunately the security at the stadium saw the problem and didn't try and force us back. Otherwise, there could have been a Hillesborough type incident.

At least City won the replay 1-0 and went on to the semi-finals for a three match marathon against Everton.

Derby away? Only remember Quinn in net v Derby at home. He scored then saved a Saunders pen.
Yes you are correct, senior moment remembering back!! Saunders scored an amazing volley against us (pretty sure I remember that) all the derby fans went wild around us, we stuck out like a sore thumb

Quinny got us a penalty which Mark Ward scored I think?

Only one for me - when Denis Law back heeled the winning goal at the swamp and the rebels were charging around the stand punching anyone without a grimace on their faces. My mate and I hid behind a stanchion and then on our way out of the ground pretended to "hate Denis". Once clear we couldn't stop laughing.

Newcastle,s St James Park , first season relegated in the 80s. Total carnage, they smashed down the gate to the away section and carnage ensued.

Going back to that Leeds game Sept 88, Ithey also fired a flare in to the City end, which went in to the top bit of the stand. I vividly remember that all their fans to the right of the City fans weren't watching the game at all, just constantly staring at City. Also, how come when you watch clips of the Leeds/City cup matches from 77,78 the away end was seated, but ten years later we were stood on terracing. Weird!.

Brum mid 70s...got beat 4-0 and they were waiting outside for us from half time. Rough walk back to the coach park near some old scrap yard.

Arsenal also 70s...we were singing in the middle of the Clock end when a load of huge cockneys pounced from nowhere. Ran us all over the place.

Everton and Liverpool 1981. Both Cup games and rough as fuck. Went by train and pleased to get home in one piece. The Everton one was probably worse as it seemed like the whole of Merseyside was out for that one and as soon as we stepped off the train it started.

Wasn’t that after they had beaten us 5-0?

I’m so glad I grew up in the 90’s and away from all of this crap. Imagine not being able to take your kids due to the violence every weekend? No wonder an entire generation grew up thinking football is a TV channel.

Quite sad to see one or two warmly reminiscing about it too. I literally can’t remember the last time I had to fight to escape a situation. Maybe 20 years ago.
