Scariest away day following City

The understanding was always not to bully smaller numbers or attack scarfers. The dress code was always the give away and changed quite dramatically depending on where you were playing. It was mental to be in a city centre at the opposite end of the country & be able to spot fellow Mancs purely by how they were dressed (without the need to see the pin badge)!

Yes both rough places. I was in the curry house one night when a guy was taking offence to something someone said on another table. Both big mixed groups. Sitting adjacent to him was one of the bouncers, Billy Williams. Anyway Billy smacks him and starts giving him a hiding and their group leg it out. About five minutes later the lad comes back in and his face all swollen and bloodied offers Billy outside. When he goes out the las drives a car at him at speed, it just missed him and smashed into some taxis. Billy and his mates started chasing the lad, God knows if they caught him.

Remember Billy , we were there for women mostly after fighting all day lol, it rarely went off in there , if I remember each area of lads from around had their own section of the club , but when it did it fucking did

I saw a fair few fights there and the restaurant around the corner, had a few myself outside. A right mixture of hard nuts in there though. They had a light by the front door, the barmaids pressed a button if it kicked off and the bouncers ran in. Billy was much feared with good reason, he had a hair trigger temper. A guy I worked on ships with, George Thomas from Ardwick did the odd stint on the door there.

Yep , more loons per square inch in there, it was my home for 4 years, remember walking in the 1st time Jamming was blasting out ,money in my pocket, lots of women about ......I thought ..I am never leaving here , paradise found .

I used to come from Stockport to go there, it was a roughhouse but as long as you didn't play up you were fine. Anyone remember when they had Samantha Fox turning up for a promo event, not many birds in that night, wall to wall sweaty young lads.

Also remember one of the Winters worked the door for a time.

Ha ha yes! Cheap drinks too, used to get those tickets at the weekend got you in free in the week. I think Kloisters and another club were part of the same group. Jack was the manager, small late fifties, grey hair and a pinstripe suit.

Don’t remember that mate , sure I would have , remember when it changed name & I saw Odyssey there , mega stars at the time working a 10ftx10ft stage in the corner of Genevieves , surreal .
