Scariest away day following City

This isnt really scary but sums my dad up lol ...I got tickets for our 81 fa cup final (£3.50 per ticket) anyway we travelled up from margate on the train , I dont remember any of the journey, but this I remember....Anyway we get into Wembley very early in fact the first in our section because my dad wanted to stand with his back against one of the barriers to stop us being pushed forwards. So we did within a minute or so a Wembley steward told us to move to the front right against the fence. My old man said "no pal I want the barrier against my back". The twat of a steward wouldnt have it and the row got very heated. Remember we are the only ones in this part of the ground !. The steward went and got a cop to throw us out. The copper basically said we have to do what the steward wanted.
So there we are the only people in Wembley with our noses pressed up against the fence at the front. Nearly getting thrown out an hour and a half before kick off. My dad was now in a bad mood.
After about 20minutes the area started to fill abit and than that same copper came up to us and said some like "now that steward cant see you you can go and stand were you want" . So we went back to where we were to start with !.
I can remember thinking my first fa cup final aged 20 and my dad is going to get us kicked out an hour and a half before kick off lol

I came within a whisker of missing the 81 cup final too, aged 11. When we got onto the terrace it was rammed. I couldn’t move or see a thing. There were 3 of us lads and 2 dads. Our dads were getting more and more worried about the crush and in the end my dad insisted on us leaving. I was distraught and crying on the way back out of Wembley and we were walking back down the steps when my dad had the idea of jumping over a wall to more steps which led to a different paddock. My dad went first, and my mates dad stayed and the two of them helped the three of us young lads over. Just as the third one of us got over a copper came running over and stopped my mate’s dad from climbing. You should have heard his son screaming historically when he thought he’d lost his dad for the day. Thankfully the copper saw sense and let him over, the next paddock was quieter and we got to see City lift the cup.

Well, almost.

I was at that match. Still fuming about that cheat Crosby. Ref didn't know the fucking rules
Also at that game and don’t think ref saw what happened. Nobody knew what was going on and how they managed to score. Think Crosby tried it on and got away with it

Can't remember anything that I'd call scary. Not hard or brave. Probably the alcohol intake had something to do with it. I've always had it in my mind that the 1-0 game at Millwall was in 86 but everyone seems to mention 87. Loved that day, lost in Rotherhithe beforehand, the station at New Cross then London Bridge afterwards. Brilliant buzz. My mate was brickin it but I just looked around me at the City lads there and thought we'll be fine here. Funny reading MF's book years later and he said they were nervous coming out. If I'd known that I might have thought differently.
Went to Leeds in the 80s and the whole end seemed to be City nutters, just remember loads of stuff getting wrecked on the way back to the station. Game under Kendall at Goodison, 0-0. Me and a mate walked from Lime Street and went in every pub enroute. Sussed in most but had no hassle, apart from strange incident in the last one. Some lads kept asking us to play pool in the back room after we'd said we were going the match and it was about 10 mins to kick off. Probably would have had the cues wrapped around our heads in there. Then ran to the ground, through a gate shouting City, loads of blokes turned round and tell us to Fuck off. That hammered we'd charged into the home end. Made a quick turnaround. I think we avoided stuff by being so pissed to be oblivious.
The place that I still think had the ultimate scary people in was the bar at Harwich port going to Holland England game in 93. I was on my own so teamed up with a Chelsea fan, a West Ham and an Oxford lad on the train from Liverpool Street. Walked in the bar and just said don't spill anybody's pint in here. Creme de la creme of English hooligans in there but again avoided all the bother by drinking in a bar all day.
Loved those times though. Other than Old Trafford games only started going away in mid 80s. Just wish I'd started a few years before

Maybe it's just me but if I overheard an ongoing conversation and the subject was something I neither understood or had any interest in I wouldn't go sticking my oar in by making snidey comments, I'd probably just move along and find somewhere else to butt in.

It must happen to you every day. That’s awful.

Interesting to see Hereford get a mention. I’ve followed them sporadically since the mid-90’s and they’ve nothing to boast about. A few pissed up Wurzels in their one designer outfit who run at the first hint of trouble. I’ve seen Newport, Swansea, Birmingham and others all take liberties and the bumpkins be grateful for police holding them back. They’re all mouth.

I went with County to the autoglass in 91 with Stoke. That was interesting too.
I went too, was a good day out, so were the finals against Port Vale & Burnley. Did you go to the play off semi at Stoke around the same time, that walk back to the station was edgy whoever you followed away at Stoke.

Stoke away 97ish when we won 5-2 and both got relegated . Got punched three tines from three different dickheads. Once when i was sat in the car FFS
That day was certainly one of the worst, our coach from Macclesfield broke down in the car park after the game so we were stranded for about half a hour so missed the police escort out. The local dibble laughed and said you should watch Macclesfield instead. ( macc had just been promoted) amazingly despite passing loads of stokies giving us death treats and our coach not being able to go above 20mph up hill we didn't get bricked. Didn't Nick Hancock from TV attack blues that day as well
