Scariest away day following City

Mainly the 80's onwards and mainly at home with the odd local-ish away thrown in.

Not sure of your point but if you're going to tell me that I had to be there to have an opinion I'll have to disagree.

I have seen far too many scumbags bouncing around in their Adidas samba pushing and shoving but only actually fighting when the numbers were in their favour by a ratio of at least 3:1 to know that the vast majority of "boys" were frightened cowards. Meek as mice during the week, overdosing on hard **** tablets when surrounded by a few of their mates at weekends, but only then when out numbering "the opposition".

I've been to 1000's of games and never once had a fight, thrown a missile, bounced around like a bellend, or been anywhere near an altercation of any sort. (Except for one time walking back down mauldeth road after beating villa 2-1 when 5 villa "boys" started on me and my mate. We told them to fuck off and guess what? They did).

If you go or went to a game of football hoping for, or looking for, or prepared to get involved with, any sort of violence you were a bellend and a scumbag.

At the league cup semi against Everton a couple of years ago a couple of Everton fans jumped up when they went one nil up in our end. Sure as night follows day some scrotes jumped up (after checking they outnumbered the two everton dicks) and punched one of them on the back of the head (waited until he was past them so he couldn't see the attack, naturally), acting the big man. The everton lad turned around and offered it him and surprisingly the coward quickly backed away.

It was stupid then, its stupid now, and its indefensible.
Most lads in the 70's and 80's went to games wanting no trouble (or to rob maybe).

Getting attacked you had fuck all choice but to stand and fight....sometimes scrapping against higher numbers never mind one on one.

Different times boss.

Running away you would be fucked. Simply cannot compare now to back then.

This fans should not be in the City allocated area. It's says it on the ticket. Always someone going to take issue with it whether you like it or not. If segregation was ever lifted it would be different.

I do not doubt for a second that occasionally people who wanted no part of it got inadvertently caught up in a situation. My issue isnt with those innocent people, it's with the knobheads who put them in that situation.

If you see two lads having a scrap in a pub carpark you might stand and watch for a minute or two, human nature to do so etc. If 5 of one of the lads mates jump in and kick the shit out of the other lad they will rightly be criticised by all normal people. Why do we make heroes out of people doing this on a weekend?

If there was anyway to prove it, I would bet my mortgage and my life savings that the vast vast majority of "lads" who spent their weekends bouncign around with the arms outstretched like a modern day jesus in the 80's would run a mile in record time if they were offered a one on one against another lad.

Nowadays, soon as there's a sniff of trouble people are trying to film it on their phones to upload to social media sites.

Back then if anyone had of had a phone trying to film, it would have been stamped on after a swift kick in the bollocks.

I agree they shouldn't have been in our end.

My point was the mentality of the hero that twatted him (from behind) and then backed off sharpish when the Everton knobhead turned around and offered him. He walked down about 4 steps backwards, arms up "leave it , leave it".

it would ...maybe robbed not stamped on though

In the late sixties and seventies you had no option away at Liverpool or Everton walking back down Scotland Road people in houses were pointing out City fans to the Scousers, Millwall people in the flats coming out and fighting against City fans. Every ground you went to on the train ambushed as soon as you got outside the station and that was with a police escort so I am sorry to all you do gooders but it was part of growing up you had no choice

It's not a class or level of affluence thing. It's a mentality thing.

Some people like to hunt in packs, picking on the weak, and only prepared to fight when the odds are hugely in their favour. Some might see them as top lads, I see them as weak, spineless cowards. Neanderthals.
