Scariest away day following City

Did we really have scary away days?: {

I seem to recall having tea and cucumber sandwiches on the away day special horse drawn coaches. When we got to the station we'd find a nice upmarket cafe and sit in our tweed deerstalkers and hobnob tales of middle class England whilst cocking little finger out of the way of our bone china teacup. And when the jolly good boys in blue came out of the tunnel we all greeted them "hurrah, jolly good show boys". We'd then sit in our kid leather armchair seats with Beethoven piped through the stadium tannoys and joss sticks burning sandalwood incense.

Violence? We won't be having any of that round here. We're a local club for local people.

Those were the days... Tally ho old bean; )

Slight exaggeration, I met my wife in the Ritz and we've been married 32 years this year after courting for 5 years..!

She'll be 59 next birthday..

True story mate, I really did meet my wife in the Ritz..!!

Checked her out properly though..!

Own teeth
Own hair
No tattoos
Could stand up and sit down unaided, unlike me.. If it wasn't for the carpet having the consistency of velcro I'd have been face down on the floor long before I bumped into her..!

Rotters, Pips, Fagans and Placemate 21 were great nights out..!!

Where's all the time gone?[/QUOTE

Hi mate I also met my partner there in June 1988 on her birthday in fact,told her she was the best present she could have wished for ! Still together now

Not sure about away days, I had some close shaves at home games. I used to get the bus from Bolton and walk from Victoria through the centre to Aytoun Street. In my youth I had a wrangler jacket with yellow roses sewn on the pockets ( they were my school colours for rugby and swimming) . Didn't realise Derbyshire emblem was a yellow rose until we played Derby. By the time me and my mate had walked from the Kippax to the main stand car park, we had around 30 lads closing in on us. We both took a few punches and kicks until the police intervened. Got escorted to the football buses and just managed to talk our way out of a further battering g at Picadilly. Not easy with my left eye closing. Colours were taken off the jacket when I got home. There were always a few City lads looking to pick off loners near Deansgate, especially if it was a Northern team we were playing
