Otamendi committed a handball. He tried to get his arm out of the way but didn’t succeed. If the exact same happened to us at the other end of the pitch we’d be screaming for a penalty. Anyone who argues differently is an out and out happy clapper.

Of course we'd scream for it, that's a given but that doesn't mean we should get it, we shouldn't if the rules are applied correctly.

At the last minute. It took all of 1 second to hit him. Fuckin tools the lot of them. Also the first goal stands as it was in a different phase of play. It wasn’t even a foul. Soft fuckin ****s

Otamandi, in that position, is RIGHTLY looking at blocking the shot with his body, first & foremost. If he wasn't looking at blocking it, he'd get a whole world of shit from me on here & Martin Keown on commentary.

He then has to judge where the ball will hit him, realises it's going toward his arm, not his chest, & tries to get his arm out of the way in the very limited time allowed.

Then gets a pen given against him for DELIBERATE handball AND BOOKED. All this when the ref, can't see it onscreen, as he is apparently required by UEFA to do.

It appears there is no provision in the rulebook, for v.a.r. to recommend a yellow card for Otamendi, so either the v.a.r. ref has acted outside his remit or the onfield ref, who didn't give handball against Otamendi, has now seen enough to book him.

Some people on here are complaining about those of us who saw our arses about this.

We are fucking right to see our arses & I completely saw mine about the first v.a.r. incident where they bad NO FUCKING RIGHT to be spending time looking back through the move trying to disallow our goal.

Imo UEFA should rescind Otamendi's red card as the officials acted unlawfully giving him the first one.

It is difficult imo, to see how a completely 'neutral' bunch of officials have acted in this way.

Perhaps they aren't 'bent' as such, but they were definitely not neutral in their actions.

Even Clattenburg says it wasn't a clear incident for v.a.r.

Mind you, he would have reviewed it anyway because he's a ****.
He thinks people have hands in the small of their backs and those hands can make contact with things 4 yards in front of their navel.

Ban slow motion replays from behind used

The number of times a slow mo gives a different perception of perspective of what happened is endless

We watch the game in real time , that is what we see so base any replays using VAR or otherwise on real time events

Yes, use different angles if you have to but none of this stop, start, slow down rewind bollocks

I don’t think the first penalty was intentional handball, Otta really didn’t have time to take the arm out the way, but I am sure if it was the other way around with a Schalke player that penalty would’ve never been rewarded.

It was a great game nevertheless, we did great at not letting the frustration to affect our game. Great to see that spirit of fight until the end.

Moving forward I hope we learn a few lessons from the game, like not giving the referees any chances to screw us up because you know they will do anything in their power to do so.
I think this game will give us that extra determination for the Chelsea game.

Come on City!!!

're Sir Peter Walton, on bt,

He completely ignored the "clear and obvious mistake" part of VAR, a point he had continually Harped on about previously. And decided to take the "If the final decision is right" road.
With ex referees like him around, there is no way VAR will become clear to the masses.
His performance last night had me using language that upset my dog.

I think Pep is trying to get in the players' heads to take responsibility because the last 2 major knockout games both involved us getting shafted by refs but also involved us making silly mistakes, like last night.
