Schalke Post Match Thread

I saw a group of about thirty youngsters walking up the spiral at Entrance J. As they walked up some were singing Schalke Schalke, took a look and a couple of them had rag shirts on!
I was talking to some Schalke supporters in the hotel bar last night. They had done the stadium tours at Old Trafford and Anfield this week.

The squad is so good now that we sometimes take these results for granted. Even with a make shift back four Pep has got every player feeling comfortable in their positions & playing beautiful football.
7-0 in the Champions league knock out stage is some going.
The goals are also coming from a variety of players & not mainly from one individual dividual which has to be good.

Very David Silva-esque performance from Ilkay Gundogan last night. He's no fernandinho, but he doesn't need to be. When he plays we play a different style of football, Gundo pulled the strings last night and was brilliant.

Before I set off for the game last night I put the match on record. A little screen came up asking me if I wanted to add an hour to the planned recording. I immediately though about extra time so I added the hour.

I wonder how long it will be before I lose that Cityitis fear I have !

We played very well for the last 60mins of the game last night. The one worry is that if we start like that against one of the big guns the tie could be over before it has even really started. The last few games it has taken nearly 30mins to get up a head of steam. That said in the last hour of the game we were amazing, Schalke were just chasing shadows all over the pitch. It was very hard to pick a man of the match, as each player could have won it.

Both Leroy and Ilkay had fantastic games and were causing Schalke no end of problems. Daivid and Bernado Silva both had good games as well. Olex Zinchenko is getting better with every game he plays, along with Phil Foden who had an excellent cameo performance for the last 25mins and rounded it of with a very good goal.

However I do feel cheated, not by UEFA. However I do feel cheated by the referee, why because the stoppages in the 1st half were at least 5mins, and not the 2mins that the referee add on. As for the 2nd half, not the 4sec stoppage time that the ref played, what was that all about. There should have been going by the laws of the game. As follows 30secs per goal so there is 2mins 5 substitutions at 30secs per sub so there is another 2min 30secs. Plus all the time wasted over the VAR goals and no goal. So there fore there should have been at least another 6mins at least. I just wonder if the French referee really felt sorry for the players of Schalke, and that's the reason why he decided to play no injury time.
