He quit because successive England managers played to the media gallery about playing Gerard and Lampard together in the middle and shunting Scholes our to the left.
And he was correct to do so as he was better then both of them put together. It was disgraceful the way the English fa treated him.
Paul scholes May have been a utd player but he was he greatest English midfielder , alongside gascoigne in decades.
An absolutely superb footballer.
Personally I've have Gerard and Frank over the Ginger Pig. Scholes wouldn't have stayed on the pitch at international level in the middle. He got away with several yellow card challenges every game playing for the Rags, international refs wouldn't be so bent.

Surely it's technically 5 City players, with Pearce and Vieira getting mentions? If we're being pedantic......
Despite being a rag, he was a quality footballer even if I never quite understood why commentators seemed to chuckle at his inability to tackle, rather than just admit he was a dirty sod .

Fair enough and your entitled to your opinion of course.
Personally I believe, in this market today, a 23yr old Paul Scholes would be virtually unbuyable. Minimum of £250-300 million. At least.

Fantastic footballer. He got praise from many of his rivals. Much better than Gerard and Lampard. A smart manager would have worked out how to use him better.

One of my favourite players of all time. Certainly got away with murder because he was at the rags during the Ferguson era.
