Despite being a rag, he was a quality footballer even if I never quite understood why commentators seemed to chuckle at his inability to tackle, rather than just admit he was a dirty sod .

Sorry, best ENGLISH midfielder that should have said. (With the possible exception of Gazza but that said he ruined his career whereas Scholes made the most of all his talent)

Can't really fault that and can't really fault him despite him playing for that lot, cracking player who was born and raised not far from me. As a pundit he's actually quite honest and speaks well of our players, think he said not long ago that the 3 best players in the league were De Bruyne, D.Silva and Aguero.
