Scholes, ITV disgrace

ABsolute BOLLOCKS. 90% of the UK (maybe Europe?) HATE The scum.

don't let this ' buy success' bullshit fool you. City have always been well liked generally because of the shit we have gone through, the humour and loyalty of the fans etc etc etc

But then along came the money, and then the jealousy, and then the bitterness. By and large mate, fans of other clubs now want to see City fail, particularly on the European stage. ITV and Sky know this and set their cloth accordingly. That is why we find Paul Scholes on our tellies.

Besides, name me a ex-city player, with credible Champions League experience, who could be the "city pundit"? David James? Robbie Fowler? Dietmer Hamann? the names don't exactly trip off the tongue. Much as we would all like to see Patrick Viera on the box, he simply doesn't fit with the product that Sky and ITV are producing, and it's probable that he's prohibited from direct media appearances by the club anyway, as a conflict of interest.

Ultimately, the media have a product, and an audience, and whether we like it or not, the programmes look set to be shit for us for the foreseeable future.

I've yet to meet many fans that hate us. Reality is very different to the SKY/Media reality that truly hate us.

How about the world cup winner Viera? How does he have more of a conflict of interest than the chuckles or scholes?

I'm pretty sure keegan is just as, if not more, successful than souness?

hamann has won more than rednapp.

Success doesn't mean that you can't be a dull, bias, drone of a **** like scholes.

Andy Townsend didn't win much but hes much better than any of the rags or spice boys.

But the media "agenda" is simply giving the paying public what they want, it is driven by demand. Unfortunately, the majority of Sky / ITV / BBC football viewers are not City fans, and a vast number of them wish to see us fail, due to the huge investment which has come our way. They are jealous, and the broadcasters play to this.

I seriously doubt that that Viera would be allowed by City to be a pundit covering our games. If, for example, one of our players committed a clearly deliberate leg-breaker, what could Viera (a club employee) say about it? It is a non-starter.

I'm not really sure why you are bringing in Keegan and Townsend either. I was making a point in response to the clamour for ex-city players to be pundits when we are on the telly. There just aren't any with credible and relevant Champions League playing experience, granted it is different for Premier League matches, where there is a host of former blues that could get the gig, but that doesn't fit in with the programme that Sky or the BBC are trying to produce.

re atmosphere:

1) empty seats before the match/lack of pre match atmosphere
- City fans have always got to the ground LATE. City fans are old school, and are often in the pub instead of looking at blades of grass hours before (like the rags and Liverpool).
- City fans are working and travelling to the game. We are not rich tourists who either don't work or get the whole day off to travel up (rags/Liverpool)

2) non attendance of fans (I don't know any season ticket holder who went last night)
- the expense
- shit atmosphere/tourists
- getting BANNED for trying to start an atmosphere with letters relating to ''persisting standing and singing " whereas showshec have given up where we are in league games.
- lack of beer in ground
- lastly and probably one that shouldn't be a factor - the expectation that we are shit in Europe
-

- on a personal note, I work long hours and struggle to make week night kick offs (And I work in the city centre). Further, I suffer from crazy insomnia and I get so involved in the match (Especially when we are shit or are being screwed by the officials) that i'm so 'hyped' up I get no sleep at all. SO in a sea of fans that don't sing, sometimes I think you know what, its not worth it.

Fantastic post.

I thjnk Scholes has a point. Last night was a big night for us, and the atmosphere was abysmal, we never make the Etihad a cauldron of noise for the opposition, and its something that can make a difference.

We never have. Much as I can't stick Scholes or Camelgob they were right to have a go imo. There are always reasons people can't make it but with such a big game on where a lot rested on the result you'd think we'd have people lining up behind those that couldn't make it to take their place. We didn't. And those that did make it just sat and waited for things to happens. The reality is we are trying to run before we can walk. Stadium expansion is a joke. We don't have the fan base (yet).

A 600 mile round trip for me yesterday and I've never been so disappointed. No passion off the park and precious little on it.

It's okay for degenerate millionaires like scholes and ferdinand to have a go at people for not being able to afford to go to a game of football? Okay.

Great point and Scholes was only there because he was getting paid.

Some of these people need a reality check. 2 games a week is sadly beyond most people nowadays, certainly our core working class support.

Because no other team in their history of course has ever failed to fill their stadium for every game.

One of the most snidey articles I've ever read about any club ever.

They will never get another click from me no matter the subject.

It's an absolute disgrace. Eurosport have always been an utter embarrassment in every aspect of their coverage and this is no different. This is barely an article, it's more like a blog. It's extremely nasty, baseless, tasteless journalism. I now admit defeat - I said claims of a media agenda against us were exaggerated but I was wrong. We have a few sympathisers like Martin Samuel and Phil McNulty but the majority despise us with a passion because we do not belong to the established elite. We need a great European night at home to get things moving in Europe.

Having a go at the performance of players is one thing. Having a go at the crowd is another.

Next time ITV, Sky, BT , BBC cameras pan in on any crowd in any stadia why don't they belittle anyone who isn't seen singing and make not of any empty seats and go out of their way to emphasise this.

The snide anti-City brigade are in full swing.

Lets all have the last laugh by winning the League, getting through to the knockout stages of the CL , winning a domestic cup and seeing both Utd and Liverpool finishing outside the top 4 (great if Arsenal finished 4th and then lost in the pre-qualifying stages next year, and also in winning the league we beat the smug Maureen to it), and Liverpool being fined for failing FFP (they finish 5th or 6th to qualify for next years Europa League).

A perfect Top 7 ?

1. City
2. Chelsea
3. Southampton
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool
6. Spurs
7. Utd

Paul Scholes is first rate, first class wanker. Out of all the bitter bell ends that have ever played for those fuckers he is the bitterest of the lot. He is a turd. A little, bent, thick, biased, ginger, bitter, inane half wit. A monosyllabic, turgid, unintelligible moron. This classless, ungracious shit head can't wait to have a pop.

Now TV have given him an opportunity to air his childish, moronic insults.

From his "mis timed" tackles to his muttering, shuffling TV appearances, this man is a supreme cretin.

Who remembers his comments after he scored a last minute header against us at the Etihad a few years ago? Something along the lines of: "I really enjoyed that goal. City thought they were a big club. We proved they aren't."

Many City fans were duped and bought into his quiet, man-of-the-people persona. Well he isn't. He never was. He's an ugly, charmless, hateful, spiteful tosser.

Spot on mate. I played cricket against him years ago (just before he started becoming a regular in the first team squad and the GPC stopped him playing). He was an obnoxious little cnut even then. And that was not just through my blue-tinted specs, the rags on my team thought exactly the same.

Indeed. It also blatantly ignores the fact that if United didn't have a compulsory cup scheme for CL matches for their 55,000 season ticket holders then they'd never sell out a CL group game. Same goes for Arsenal where their 45,000 or so season ticket holders have the cost of their first 7 home CL and FA Cup games included in the price of their season ticket so only have to shift another 12,000 to sell out when you factor in 3000 away fans. I'm not sure whether Chelsea have a compulsory ticket scheme for ST holders at CL games but I do know that many of them voted with their feet at a CL group game a few years ago in protest at the ticket prices: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... bile=basic , and while Liverpool don't have a compulsory ticket scheme let's not forget that they're one of the biggest supported clubs in the world so will have plenty of fans to take up the seats vacated by non-attending ST holders.
