school dinner = fuming

My eldest girl was having her packed lunch at school on Monday, and didn't eat all of her sandwiches. She ate most of it and then put it in the tin foil and threw it in the bin, to her shock and horror the head dinner lady picked it out of the bin, and made YES made her eat it. My daughter was distraught and when I was told by the head teacher I was fucking fuming, so a letter of complaint was duely done. I've had a reply today saying basically she's done wrong, broke health and safety rules, caused my daughter unnecessary distress, she had no rights to make my daughter eat her dinner, as she brought it from home. What does the dinner lady get ?, a slap on the wrists, now I'm baying for blood and want her to be made an example of. Is what shes done a sackable offence, in your eyes?, because in mine it certainly is,and to make it worse I'm a governor at the school.

Go and give the old bag a good kicking the old c**t deserves it.

THE most sensible post in the thread.

Glad another huge problem has been sorted by BM

I think the dinner lady is a rag and knew your daughter is from a family of blues and seized the opportunity to get a bit of revenge in....
I'd take the unhygienic pig to the cleaners, get it in the local press and news and then out her as a rag and lay it on really thick that it's a football related incident...
Could you imagine the embarrassment...

The school has to abide by employment laws, its own HR policies and the contract it has with the dinner lady. It could well be that what you want as a punishment would put them in breach of that contract, the law or their own guidelines regarding the range of disciplinary action open to them. As a governor you should be aware of that.

Being a complete twat about it (although I'm not suggesting you are) and shouting the odds could rebound on you and your daughter spectacularly, particularly given the position you hold.

It's not like your daughter has suffered a physical injury or been assaulted although the dinner lady was clearly in the wrong.

I'd suggest accepting the apology and moving on.

The most sensible post on this thread.Any school governor should show a bit more tolerance.
All I will be asking is that a proper and personal apology is made in person to my daughter, then the issue can be closed. We as a school have gone about everything in the right way, and the decision on punishment has been taken by her employers as she isn't directly employed by the school. Why can't I be angry at this if I'm a governor?, how would you feel?. I've certainly not acted like a twat, and to be honest I've been calmer than most, and not ranted and raved at school.

I suggest you read your own thread again. Its more than a rant.Fucking fuming were the words you used.Is it a sackable offence was another.
So I`ll ask you again why aren`t you showing a bit more tolerance,as a Governor, how would you have reacted had it been another parent in your face shouting the same sort of shit that you`ve been guilty of.
I`m not suggesting you don`t ask for an apology, but maybe a "cooling off" period may be a little more satisfactory,as a parent and Governor.

Good man mate. She certainly needs a good kick up the arse and hopefully your daughter receives a worthwhile apology,DIRECTLY in person and not via a letter.

On a positive note, it's good that the kids are being watched as I'm sure many would just have a drink and biscuit and bin the 'proper' food in favour of getting out playing.

You know what kids are like at that age, do you really think they'd tell you that they threw away most of the dinner that you tell them every day they have to eat up like a good girl? It may well be that this lady was doing you a favour and making sure that your daughter had something decent to eat before going playing and then back into class. If the bin wasn't manky and full of mess and gunge, then picking her dinner off the top of a few plastic bags and crisp packets and making her eat it might have been a good thing to do.

Hopefully tomorrow you'll take note of Elsa and let it go - let it gooooooo
