school dinner = fuming

I think you have every right to rant, Governor or not.. What she did was disgraceful... Too many power freaks in these schools.

The school has to abide by employment laws, its own HR policies and the contract it has with the dinner lady. It could well be that what you want as a punishment would put them in breach of that contract, the law or their own guidelines regarding the range of disciplinary action open to them. As a governor you should be aware of that.

Being a complete twat about it (although I'm not suggesting you are) and shouting the odds could rebound on you and your daughter spectacularly, particularly given the position you hold.

It's not like your daughter has suffered a physical injury or been assaulted although the dinner lady was clearly in the wrong.

I'd suggest accepting the apology and moving on.

The most sensible post on this thread.Any school governor should show a bit more tolerance.
All I will be asking is that a proper and personal apology is made in person to my daughter, then the issue can be closed. We as a school have gone about everything in the right way, and the decision on punishment has been taken by her employers as she isn't directly employed by the school. Why can't I be angry at this if I'm a governor?, how would you feel?. I've certainly not acted like a twat, and to be honest I've been calmer than most, and not ranted and raved at school.
I think that's a reasonable response and expectation. I know as a parent that it's easy to get very worked up when your kids have been treated unfairly.

I would have made her eat something manky out of the bin if she did that to my child. What's good for the goose n'all

I'd want her sacked, she should have thought about the consequences of her actions before bullying your little girl.

Bullying? Really?

Ask yourself what right minded person would make a child remove food from a bin and eat it and then ask yourself if you'd feel comfortable allowing that person to be in charge of the care of children.

Some people just aren't cut out to work with children and in this case I wouldn't let her back into the school

Sounds like the only thing manky in the bin was the girls butty she wanted to ditch.

The said butty was wrapped up, even dad said so.

Not right but let's not go over the top as the first rant on here did. He seems to have vented his anger now and cool downed.

What difference does it being wrapped up make ? She has no right to try and make her eat anything if she doesn't want to, much less something out of the bin ! It was a totally bizarre thing to do and completely inappropriate. I wouldn't want her near my child if she's such a friggin loon and no allowances should be made for such draconian behaviour. There is a huge difference between a error in judgment and knowing right from wrong and in this case she clearly cannot distinguish between the two.

Sounds like she hasn't even apologised, so she hasn't admitted any wrongdoing herself
