Schweinsteiger is open to a move

Schweinsteiger will stay at Bayern. I guarantee you that. Mark my words. Everybody who says he comes is a WUM.

Sorry, but you have to wait until the transfer window closes.

just dug this up which is in keeping with corky's timeline, not giving it any more credence than that, especially considering my contribution to that thread as it clearly shows my wish for it to be true. Not only that but it is a shocker for the hierarchy of football, which means it engages my niavete and my romanticism, so for that reason, "I'm in!"

and as a ps, although it will fall on deaf ears, can we not let this thread descend into the nonsense that has seen far too many threads being pulled lately.....

genuine box-to-box midfielder. He showed his class this WC, one of the players of the tournament and pulled all the strings for Germany. Would be a top, top signing

Bastian Schweinsteiger will be looking forward to putting his feet up after a 63-game season. In seven World Cup appearances, he covered 79 kilometres, and passed the ball 565 times, coming second out of all the players at the finals in both categories, beaten only by Spanish wizard Xavi. The 25-year-old proved an excellent stand-in for the injured Michael Ballack in the central midfield area.

“He was outstanding in every respect,” Germany boss Joachim Löw said in assessing Schweinsteiger’s contribution. “Bastian is the heart of the team, the midfield engine,” Löw continued, “he’s matured incredibly well”. Schweinsteiger was one of the ten players shortlisted for the Golden Ball awarded to the Player of the Tournament.

From the quote in this news, doesn't sound like a player on the move for me.

Despite the short preparation time Schweinsteiger thinks that even in the coming season, the time was ripe for big titles.
"I want to win the Champions League," he said, but had been "a good team and a very good coach. I'm sure the FC Bayern at the moment is very well positioned."

I'm amazed he wants to leave Bayern to be honest. They're one of the biggest clubs in the world, their stadium holds as near as dammit 70,000, they are arguably the best team in Germany, they got to the Champions League final last year. Why go?
