What a joke this has become. In no other 'top' footballing country we Parker get in the team, never mind make it as captain. Overrated doesn't come close to describe him

He's a media darling(not sure why) just like his club manager. Its decisions like this will keep happening as long as the FA are making decisions to satisfy the media and paying public

Only in England can we go from Cappello, a man who has won titles left, right and centre and who is obviously a great manager to Stuart Pearce then(more than likely) Harry '1 cup in 30yrs' Redknapp and the public(in the main) be happy with it

This is the final nail in England's footballing coffin

We should be preparing for the 2014 World Cup, not trying to score cheap points with the papers/TV.

As I said fickle.

How have I changed my mind? I didnt agree and I still dont, pointing out its only a friendly and not permanent is a whole different thing. Think you need to chill out pal if its upsetting you so much.

So if its only a friendly why the cause of such fickleness.
I`m not upset with Parker but I`ve yet to read a valid resonable post as to why he shouldn`t be Captain.
Shit,wanker,`arrys decision,etc,etc don`t really cut it for me as a reasonable debate for promoting Parker for one game.
I wonder how many of these posts are from irate fans who are probably still upset with him getting his head in the way of Balos foot ??

That's my argument. It should be for one game and there is clearly no planning from the top downwards. The FA/England team should not have to scramble round looking for a captain, just as it shouldn't be scraping round for a manager.

No mate the fickleness wasn`t aimed at you,because as you`ve pointed out its only a friendly.However I do believe that people are looking for negatives,basically because a City player aint got the nod and yes I don`t admitting it,that I never like a goalkeeper being named as a Captain.

I agree goalkeepers should be vocal no matter what.

I just see people like Piers Morgan as fickle, but I agree some posters that this wasnt the correct choice

I don`t think theres an immediate rush to get an England Manager named and if we are to think that if an Englishman or British person is named,they would already have a very good understanding of those players,who would be ready for the Tournament.

He shouldn't be anywhere near the England team, never mind the captain. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised with Pearce as manager. Who did he consult over the decision? Beanie?

I think there is a rush. I think the whole 'they know them well' argument doesn't wash as this game is one to prepare for the tournament, where's the manager? How does he know if his tactics will work?

If we had a manger now, the captain would be decided one way or the other. Instead we will go through the whole thing again, it will become(if it isn't already) a circus

Which ever way you look at it, this is terrible preparation for a tournament from a supposedly 'top' nation
And as for Parker, how can he seriously be considered captain? How old is he, how many awards/trophies as he won, how long is he going to be around for??
