Nout wrong with the decison IMO. Gerrard was an option but Parker was still second favourite so why are people so suprised by it?

It could just simply be a decision for the night based on Gerrard's injury propensity and the fact he played 120 mins 3 days ago.

I would take Parker everyday and any day as a captain over Stevie GBH. Besides what has Stevie done in the past year. He has been a crock and he is an absolute cnut. Parker is a model pro. After the Terry scandal England needs all the model pros it can get.

Decent player in a good team.

He was good for charlton (relegated), not good enough for Chelsea, ok for Newcastle (relegated) good for West Ham (relegated) and has done good for Spurs.

He's being overhyped now though because he's English, plays for Spurs and is the media flavour of the month.

Proper typical choice making him captain and an acceptance of mediocrity on an international stage.

Absolutely bossed by Barry when City played Spurs last month. Barry, another player who was flavour of the month until the taste ran out.

(I'm aware he wasn't with all the clubs when they were relegated but it's an example of the level he was good at)

Ye, he has a relatively low-key off the field persona. I don't know why people are questioning whether he is overrated or not.

The captain doesn't have to be the best player on the team. He needs to be a leader and have the respect of his teammates. From all accounts he has this and therefore he is a fair choice for the captaincy.

Well doesn't this just completely sum up everything about the state of English football? Parker who has only earnt 10 England caps in his entire career and at the tender age of 31 has been given the captaincy.

Not exactly one for the future is he? God I fucking hate everything to do with the national team!

What sums up the state of the England team is that everyone is so bothered about who's captain for this one, fairly meaningless, game!

It doesn't matter. Will the result depend on who the captains are? No.

Lets put it this way, Scott Parked is 100x better that the scouse twat Gerrard getting the role. Im all up for a younger person to get it. Im sick of England places and captains being picked on their names and who they play for. Well done Parker.
