Scott Sinclair

I don't understand the ridiculing Sinclair gets on here.

Fair enough he's not at our level, but he's still a good player.

He was very good at Swansea and was a big part of them getting promoted and staying up.

If we sell him for £3 million, considering Championship strikers are going for £10 million, that's pretty poor business.
The problem is he's on about £60k a week. That's £15m commitment on a five year contract without even paying for him. If you can pay a similar quality player £30k a week, which should be possible, you've immediately got an extra £7.5m for the transfer. That means we'll struggle to get £3m for him from the majority of clubs, unless he agrees a wage cut and why would he?

Presume he's got 3 years left, so we could pay him off half his wages for that period to allow a smaller team to afford him, that's £4.5m it'd cost us, so we'd want £8m+ back.

That's the issue we've got with all the players we'd like to get rid of and is one of the reasons we're moving to incentive based salaries

The problem we have has already been highlighted on the forums. We have players like Sinclair and Richards who's wages are way above what they should be for their level .... So we struggle to get a buyer and players are not keen to take a big wage cut to move etc ....

Absolute lack of concepts cost us dearly from the 2012 window. Mancini vs Marwood fights over transfers, late panic buys on the last day of the window, thank God Roma came for Maicon he would be still here on probably high wages otherwise.

Also only 2 years later we are facing with the need of replacing those buys like Sinclair, Rodwell, Garcia. They werent good buys football wise but also in financial terms, their resale value dropped big time, we maybe get half of their price now or not even that much and we even couldnt get 10m for Nastasic despite he at least had a great season when he arrived. So all of them lost from their values, awful transfer window that was...

Got to agree that 2012 summer transfer window was a disaster .
Had to the fact we should have sold Mario that summer as well .
At least the 2013 and 2014 summer windows have been better .
But we still have a lot of deadwood to shift this summer .

so it's seems like we may get 9M for richards and guidetti ...surely there has to be a team out there ready 2-3 M on Sinclair right???

Whose paying the 5m for Richards?

Beats me why we gave him such a big contract I suppose it opens up the Marwood/Bobby thing again.
I have never heard £60k for Sinclair. £40k-45k is often mentioned which probably is the cap a small club will pay a player. He may have to take a slight pay cut unless he went to a place like Villa who pay a little more.
