Scott Sinclair

He still scored a top quality goal, was the difference between the two sides and will be going to Wembley. Not the useless waste of space that some were making him out to be

I'd have thought most of the rags on here would be more worried about tomorrow night's game, and Ryan Giggs taking over the hot seat.

I was in the majority when we signed him in thinking it was a good buy and he was a good player.

Never got a sniff under Mancini and then just seemed to remain forever in the shadows.

When he was at Swansea he was definitely a very promising player.

Good to see him getting back to his best.

pleased for him but he was never good enough for us. was forced on bob so little surpise he didn't feature.

So you don't believe the story that Mancini enquired about taking him to Inter Milan.

Never good enough but the idea he was 'forced' on Mancini is comical.

Presumably the City execs had been ordered to spend all the transfer budget & the fact six million was still left in the kitty meant they just had to force Mancini to have Scott Sinclair, & pay his wages, as opposed to just, well... not signing anyone for 6 mil.

Makes perfect sens they would spew 6 mil plus wages just for the hell of forcing Mancini to have a player he isn't going to play & that Mancini would lie about it being 'his fault' afterwards, just to cover their arses.

Just human nature to do that.

Correct, only on bluemoon could people come out with players like him and Etherington being good enough.Never has been and never will be good enough for a top club challenging !

See I don't necessarily buy this kind of argument. You can't expect to have a squad full of top class players, you're bound to have varying qualities of player and some will be very ordinary. You could make the argument against quite a few players who have won major honours with us and other clubs that they in themselves were not good enough for a top club. Is Adam Johnson good enough for a top club? Presumably not and that's why he's ended up at Sunderland. Didn't stop him playing an important role in trophy winning seasons. Was Ronny Johnsen anywhere near being a top player? I think he was very average, probably mid table team standard. Didn't stop him being a useful squad member in their treble winning season.

The best thing about him looking reasonable again and scoring a top goal is his value will stabilise and we can get rid without taking a complete hit. Remember he spent a season at WBA and all that did was reduce his value as he couldn't break into that team. The media forget that it was not only our team he couldn't make. But then again we always make better headlines about ruining English players. He is never going to be back in our team and, that will be the best decision for all parties. I hope he carries on making headlines and wins Villa the cup. You never know if that happens his stock may increase and other teams come sniffing - that will force Villa to stump up the couple of million attached to his loan as an option. We have to now concentrate on adding three under 24 year old players to refresh a squad that is too comfortable and a tad stale. Then the hope must be that our academy brings in a couple more first teamer's for the 2017/8 season, that is the only sustainable way to work within FFP. Scott Sinclair is not our future full stop!

Spot on. He was never good enough for us and never will be.

Wasn't it those who bought him?

Yes, and the reasons for that fuck up have been debated on here at length. The fact is they don't think he's good enough. Neither do any the other top teams, hence the lack of a rush for his signature. The fact that we couldn't sell him, even for a few million should tell you everything. Almost no one wanted him and he's ended up on loan. He's had a couple of good games for a team fighting relegation and because of that, some people laughingly think we got rid too soon.
You couldn't make this stuff up.

If he had been givern the same number of minutes as Adam Johnson who he was a direct replacement for we fans could comment but he wasn't .he has been judged by what various managers have seen in training.

No one said we were wrong to move him on.

What was said was that he wasn't as bad a player as was being made out. Some time players need a move because it just doesn't work out for them

That's that then, marvin rates him, he must be shit!!!!

He does not fit with City's slow build up play, he needs to play on counter attack.

Navas struggles too with City's slow possession play which doesn't really suit wingers.

Nothing against the lad. Good to see he's enjoying some success. It wasn't his fault the champions came knocking with more money. It would tempt most players at clubs like Swansea.
