Scottish Independence

People tend to get fed up midterm and once Brexit has settled and most people have moved on, the 52% will likely shrink.

Add to that the bare facts of being outside the UK and EU, that Scotland will no doubt need to face. Once people learn of this they will switch, I’m sure. At the moment Sturgeon is getting away with lying to everyone it’s a straight UK or EU choice for Scotland.

Perhaps. Time will tell.

That's a bit presumptuous. i'm sure you are not the only one. but credit either way, you have indeed.

I did say “I know I’m not the only one...”

Listen, if, after Brexit has settled down, parliament passes IndyRef2 and Scotland votes to leave.

I’ll be on here saying fair play, wrong decision and a sad day for a proud Briton but that’s democracy so off you go and let’s stay friends.

Sorry, i misread that, thought it said you were the only one. my bad.

"People tend to get fed up midterm and once Brexit has settled and most people have moved on, the 52% will likely shrink."

So the 52% of Scots who want Independence will diminish in say 2 and a half years but over the last 3 and a half years the UK wide Leave 52% has stayed rock solid?

The key difference being this is the height of remainers in Scotland being annoyed, it’s Brexit week. The fact it’s only 52% is shocking for the yes vote.

52% is only based on the polls too, they could be wrong.

The Brexit vote remained close to 50/50 throughout, you can see that from every vote since.

Only 45% of people voted SNP in the last GE in Scotland and only 34% want a referendum in the near future.

It’s not looking good, despite the left climbing over each other to spit their dummies out, after losing the EU referendum and GE, to support this utterly ridiculous idea, which is actually 10x worse than Brexit.

Not saying its god or bad for them fella - its the will of their people after all - for what its worth I value the union and hope it stays together but I do have real fears it won't - especially Ulster

Ulster is different, it’s highly charged and could result in many deaths very easily, it’s why everyone treads carefully around the topic and why there may not be a poll for a while, although there’s more sense for one than Scotland.

It’s not the will of the people, the will of the people was to vote no in a “once in a generation” referendum. 45% are voting for the only people who want to hold one and only 34% of Scots want to vote at the moment.

We shouldn’t just keep holding one because Nicola fancies herself Queen up there.

After supporting a “people’s vote” on Brexit up until about a year ago I’ve realised it’s a ridiculous position to take, to keep holding referendums over and again every time something changes.

Anyway, they won’t be getting one for a while, which is what 66% of people actually want.

The peoples vote is a snapshot of what it is on a given day - thats why after a period of time the people are asked the question again and sometimes the answer differs from that what the result was previously - just look at the 1970's GE's, to assume any poll be it opinion or election is an accurate representation of the current or future view of the electorate is sheer folly.

"Life is far too uncertain for democracy, the people should never be asked what they want in case they change their mind - and what do they know anyway?"
