Scottish Independence

I see she has told her faithful that she will demand a second ref and that it will be held next year.

Yeah right, best of luck with that.

They’ve improved since he left but the guise of professionalism only acts as a curtain to what they’re really about and I stand by my point that their closest related party is UKIP, in that the main purpose of them as an entity is to breakaway using nationalism as the vehicle.

UKIP are far more odious but still they are linked.

The SNP are far from being a success too, on basic governing. Here’s a snippet outlining this and why-
We will just have to agree to differ on the UKIP thing.

In terms of their track record over the last couple of years, I completely agree. They have achieved next to bugger all. Thing is, who knows what would emerge in a post independence Scotland. At the very least the SNP would need to change their name. I suspect that another party would take over very quickly.

So they’re a party that has achieved bugger all and are clearly all about their main policy, which is the same policy as UKIP have but with the EU and not UK :-)

It’ll be like Brexit on steroids for them.

It’s a ludicrous idea that will turn Scotland into a much poorer country.

You seem to want to continue to argue? For what reason?

You don’t think it’s a good idea, a few million Scots do. For every argument that it shouldn’t go for independence there is a counter argument. If Denmark can operate quite successfully as a small independent country within the EU can’t Scotland? And what’s the alternative? Do you think that looks attractive from up here?

When they inevitably get this 2nd referendum, I hope this is clearly communicated by the no campaign.
I believe it will be mainly because it won't be drowned out by jingoistic nonsense and lies on buses, unless of course your SNP/UKIP comparison proves correct. The caveat to this of course is the unknown unknowns of yellowhammer Brexit should it occur.

I doubt she wants it that soon myself. itchy nationalists in the party getting impatient.

Something similar has been stated before, im sure it has probably a year or so ago.

All depends on how brexit plays out.

Not at all, hence the smiley face. I’m just making the point on why they are similar to UKIP.

Imagine this in the Brexit thread-

“You don’t think it’s a good idea, 17.4 million leavers do. For every argument that we shouldn’t go for Brexit there is a counter argument. If Norway can operate quite successfully as a small independent country outside the EU can’t The UK? And what’s the alternative? Do you think that looks attractive from up here?”

The SNP have made such a piss poor attempt at running the country it’s in a worse position than the rest of the UK. The deficit is higher than the rest of the UK and the GDP is a third lower than Denmark’s, despite a similar population size.

The financial centre in Edinburgh will flock into England quicker than you could say the word geese.

There’s no confirmation the EU would have you/them and the economic hit would be devastating for the country.

There’s also absolutely no detail at all, at all, on currency, central governing bank, armed forces, borders etc.

As I say, this is Brexit on steroids.

It may be. You didn't mention the alternative ;-)

We had a Scottish Independence referendum and a campaign that went with it and there were disgraceful lies told then.

A Scottish no voter also told me of the toxic atmosphere and the fact that if/when it happens again, he fears there will be violence, if the no vote don’t go completely anonymous.

Geezo, you are beginning to sound like the 'inconvenient truths' guy, with your loop ukip comparisons.

Absolutely boggles my mind that you won't even contemplate for a second (or read what some have pointed out on both threads) that there is a lot more to it. Ah well.
