Wrong. This has received so much covereage because Lennon and Reid keep banging on about it.
At the end of the day Dougie McDonald and the linesman made the correct decision to not award the penalty to Celtic. Who cares what he told Lennon afterwards?

I'm not going to get into a "i'm right & you're wrong" game with you. As someone who favours the other half of the O/f from me I don't expect a balanced opinion from you.

To clarify, you're saying that it was perfectly acceptable for a referee to lie to an SPL manager, then cover it up along with the Senior offical (Dallas) with a bullshit story, hang a colleague out to dry and make him the scapegoat (Craven), then try and backtrack? And you don't think that calls into question the integrity of any Scottish official? Jesus wept.

What to do is turn the situation around. If that was a penalty awarded to Rangers for a foul on say, Kenny Miller , then the ref changes his mind via consultation with his linesman/assistant ref, instead he awards a drop ball with no Rangers player in the vicinity of said drop ball. You're saying there would be no coverage in the media or complaint made by Rangers? That Mr Dignity himself, Walter no-surname would accept such a change of heart? Do us a favour. Rangers and Smith have remained silent as they can have no major complaints so far this season as far as refereeing decisons go both for and against them.

Thats what i do not understand why McDonald had to lie.In my opinion they eventually made the correct decision,so why make up a lie about it.McDonald should never referee another game,Dallas(Motherwell fan) should quit and Neil Lennon should have been dealt with a lot quicker and given a big suspension and warned about his future conduct, which has been shocking.

I know all this is about the fact that lennon is a prick that can't keep his mouth shut but that challenge was never a penalty and the correct decision was made in the end. Celtic won fair and square. it should have been left at that and the SFA should have taken it further.

The old firm are always a refs favourite to dish out the odd dodgy penalty or a blind eye to a foul on a lesser team. its a joke

Yorkston is a pain in the fukn arse.
He hates Celtic.
The feeling's mutual.

Can't really blame him. I hate them too. As does just about every fan of every other Scottish club right now.

Bit out of the goldfish bowl that is Scottish football now (thankfully). but until a few months ago I used to watch Dunfermline a lot and was able to take advantage of the matchdy hospitality at EEP every couple of months.

You say Yorkston hates Celtic, absolutely right, he does.

But its fair to say that he hates Rangers with an equal passion, I've been at EEP when Rangers has visited and the stuff he comes out with against Celtic's ugly sister is equally vitriloic. The anti-Celtic stuff gets publicised - why?

Let's see.....Chris Sutton accusing the Pars of lying down, Bobo Balde handballs in the cup final, O'Neill public pathetic rants about plastic pitches and now this Lennon and Celtic ego trip that's costing real football clubs and fans money. Rangers haven't antagonised Yorkston recently, but mark my words, if they do, he'll let rip and has done in the past.

What annoys me as an outside observer about Scottish football and fair enough you may accuse me as an interloper as not understanding is that after 16 years living in the country that:

- you seemingly cannot hate the old firm equally, believe me the fans of the wee teams despise the pair of them as much as the other, but the old firm pair seem to think hating one must mean you love the other

- both sides have a persecution complex at times, honestly, try supporting a wee team in Scotland, the old firm have such an easy ride with referees, the SFA etc its untrue, take a step back and see the big picture

- the lying, i actuallu believe that it was caused as the referee just geninely couldn't face yet another old firm whinge and witch-hunt. It wasn't malicious, but the pair of Celtic and Rangers are bigger than the SFA and the guy isn't paid enough to deal with the hassle. I truly believe he would have done the same if had been Rangers. You couldn't pay me enough money to referee in Scotland given the pressure the two Glasgow giants put on the referees.

- Dallas and the Pope email, really? Everyone in the country got that email, and hundreds of similar ones every year about Bin Laden, the Queen, every authority figure. Its not a football issue, Celtic are not the Catholic church's team - they cannot get offended about this as a club. I'm Catholic, I even go to Mass unlike thousands who have taken righteous indignation on this on the football club's behalf and even I can see why Dallas passed the email on,

My dealings with smaller teams in Scotland says different, especially the teams in the south west. Preference to Celtic or Rangers for most comes to political and cultural allegiances since they already have a football team to support.

He shouldn't be a referee if he can't handle the pressure.

Lastly, if I sent an email about the pope in work I'd be sacked, doesn't matter how many people have sent it. Scotland is more sectarian than Northern Ireland these days and religious jokes are taken far more seriously especially with national bodies like the SFA and the organisations below it.

Dallas has quit. I'm sure though that some other Celtic-hating mason will replace him.
