Scottish referees to strike next weekend ( no City content )

pole-axed (see what i did there!)

smaller clubs suffering because of the big clubs mouthing off up there. gotta be hard supporting them.
they think they own the show, and to a degree they do. if they came down here the top 2 would be a good league 1 team. piss poor

Been following this debacle with interest.Scottish National Party MP Peter Wishart has called for all referees in Scotland to be forced to reveal their allegiance to a particular team, a suggestion backed by Celtic chairman John Reid.

Do they have anything like that in the English Premiership.
It will be interesting to see what happens with foreign refs this weekend.Love to see one crossing himself before the Rangers game.

I'm sure they do. I don't think it's revealed publicly, some refs allegiances are well known. Didn't/doesn't Mark Halsey train with the Bolton team, so he never officiates a Bolton match?

I think it's known that some refs support a certain team so they never officiate that match, and most refs don't officiate a game within x miles of where they live?

I think it's far-fetched to say referees are biased against one particular team, I think they just aren't being judged fairly. Referees make judgements on what they see in one instant, but are judged by several camera angles and replays. It's not fair on the refs.

I can see this rumbling on for a few years until FIFA eventually bring in some level of video technology to help top-flight referees.

Hugh Dallas, Self - Proclaimed head of refs is a Rangers fan.

Do you know this for certain or is it more Celtic nonsense.
Celtic nonsense.

Edit: Having said that he probably doesn't like Celtic very much after their supporters split his head open by throwing missiles at him during an Old Firm match at Parkhead and then smashed the windows of his house after the game.

Hugh Dallas and Stewart Regan had a blazing row on Monday at the SFA headquarters in Glasgow.

Hugh Dallas offered to call off the referees strike if his disciplinary hearing into the Pope email was called off.
On hearing this ultimatum an SFA insider said:
“Regan went ballistic!”
Regan’s exact words, overheard by many in the office were:
“How effing dare you! Don’t ever raise that again! Those two matters are totally unrelated!”
Hugh Dallas will hear his fate at 17.00hrs today in Glasgow.
In total eight people will be the subject of disciplinary hearings today.
I have learned that the Scottish Football Association has a very clear IT policy.
The passing on this email is clearly considered by Mr.Regan to be a “breach of the organisation’s IT policy.”
In recent weeks several staff were reminded of this policy of forwarding on offensive emails.
It was established inside the SFA that receiving such an email and opening it was no offence.
However forwarding it on would be considered an offence punishable from anything from a reprimand to dismissal.
I have also learned that if any of the other seven staff are dismissed for passing on this email then Mr.Dallas will also be dismissed."

Sending offensive emails about the pope may give it away.

Yes because only a Rangers supporter would ever forward on a joke email poking fun at the Catholic Church's history of child abuse.

It's amazing how everything wrong in Scottish football comes down to Rangers and Celtic fans squabbling like kids. It's makes our rivalry with the rags look like a tea party.
