Seasoncard - 2021/22

I don’t know about everyone else but I’m getting bored of all the back and forth about this, season card, phone, print at home business and just wish the club would come out with a definitive answer!
This has been an object lesson in how to mismanage a communication strategy.

While it would seem that the footballing authorities are behind this introduction of mobile ticketing, Everton seem to have got away with offering cards as an option and it seems the majority of their fans (possibly 75%) have gone for this, so it's clearly not mandatory. Yet City and other clubs have gone for broke, despite the risks, including completely inadequate testing, and without scenario analysis of all the different use cases. I've no issue with mobile ticketing per se but this approach is complete madness.

I know it's been on the cards - no pun intended - for a while so there's been plenty of time to think these things through and consult with fans. But that hasn't happened and we've got to where we are.

But knowing they were going to do it, they prevaricated about the announcement and people weren't singing from the same hymn sheet, with Supporter Services initially offering to send cards out, then tweeting the opposite yesterday.

Meanwhile, there's nothing from the club, largely because they're in a mess of their own making. Some people will almost certainly HAVE to be issued with cards but no doubt they'll find a way of making things as hard as possible for themselves and us in doing that.

Instead of managing the communications properly and being in control of the message, they've let loose a storm of rumour, uncertainty and anger among the fans, when the situation was, at best, likely to provoke a fair bit of that even if managed properly.

And this has not in any way been managed properly.

It is cheaper to buy a phone outright and then get a sim and that is what many people do these days. It is not the monthly cost that counts but the total cost over the length of the contract. £133 a year for a very basic phone doesn’t strike me as a bargain, actually.
Bollocks mate, no disrespect.

I pay 15 a month with Sky for a semi decent Samsung.

All the data I need and I use a lot, calls, instant messaging, social media, internet the lot.

Never use a PC anymore at home.

I get the plastic cards should be an option but how anyone gets by without a smart phone nowadays is beyond me.

FFS, even the save 6 tokens for a free McDonald's coffee has gone to an App!

Yesterday when i was venting
I honestly thought some solution was going to be offered
And you were keeping quiet knowing a way out was on the cards
While folk ranted and were made to look fools later on
Seems I was wrong :-(

PB I totally agree with you. As you know I am an ‘apologist’ for the club on most occasions but this has got to me. The lack of foresight and communication is just not on. Even if they can’t give us a definitive answer they could have just sent an email stating that they can’t tell us yet. That would have appeased many.

Thanks for your help.

Bollocks to you too
My mam has an old mobile
that she barely knows how to answer incoming calls.

I'm 56,and I'v never owned a car,
I'v got by
travelled to a lot of countries

we are not all the same in this world pal.

There are two or three separate issues here.

The first one concerns forcing ticket holders to pay out of expensive Tech to enable them to get into matches they have already paid for.

Secondly there is the potential for absolute mayhem at the first match unless the issues that blighted the ‘highly successful’ trial against Everton. With way less than half capacity many of us struggled to get into the match at all.

Thirdly the is the hidden agenda behind this of the club stopping cards being shared.

Each issue may affect different people but it is sure going to piss off a large number of supporters. Not the best PR in my view.

Guess you and your Mam will be watching games on tele then!

I was just pointing out there is a load of bollocks being spouted on here about the cost of phones.

It's happening whether you like it or not so you better get used to it.

Not sure what cars have to do with anything!

I was just using an analogy
you said "but how anyone gets by without a smart phone nowadays is beyond me"

Everyone i know would give up everything except their beloved car, even their mobiles.

What’s happening? No one knows, so we don’t really know if we will like it or not!
