The club obviously know how the system works and my guess would be they don’t actively want to tell people about this ‘loophole’ as it’s an easy way for people to share tickets around without going through their official friends and family / ticket exchange ecosystem.

The barcode via the GPay or Wallet apps are dynamic (they change a litle bit every 30 seconds or so) but obviously the printed ones can't do that. I think the aim is, or would have been, eventually to stop printed tickets or have an id check with each one. The shithouse trick City* seem to have done is tell everyone they needed an NFC phone, when it appears they don't, or a printer, which appears they don't either.

*Or more likely the 3rd party 'consultants' running this show.

Have you tried disabling the NFC? On Android when you do this the barcode shows all the time (there's no Show Code link).

Fella at work did this down at the stadium. Great it works "Will this be reset now for the Norwich game?" the lady who was helping him her face dropped and she just said "Im sorry but I dont know"

I don’t think you can turn it off on iOS. I might be wrong though.
