Yes. It works via NFC and it always amuses me when I see people put it in the bar code reader. The guy who implemented it was a blue as it happens. He got his season card free for a season as a thank you. Only found that out when I went for an interview for a contract role down in Norwich and he interviewed me. Asked me if I was a red or blue so told him I was a blue. He got his seasoncard out and handed it to me. Turned out he sat about 6 rows in front of me so I saw him at every home game. It was a bit embarrassing mind you as I turned the contract down in favour of another one. Which was with his brother!Immediately thought of that after I posted. I assume if it was in the back of a phone case the season card would still let you in.

I'm happy with the card only - I have a shite phone not a smart phone and I can't be the only one, but I agree there should be an option of renewable cards or no cards for those who have phones that are fit for purpose.
If we get a freebie with the card, then please make it not a scarf - I've got 3 in 3 seasons along with others I already had, which adds up to quite enough scarves.
And, as mentioned elsewhere, VAR needs to do one and there is no justification for yet another price increase next season - these things will definitely have a say as to whether I renew.

No more needless tat City. Just give us a no frills discounted SC for next season or more loyal diehards will be replaced by affluent newcomer glory hunters who want shite 'freebies'.
Our SC increases we've incurred can't keep increasing year on year, especially with VAR the way it is. SC and match day ticket reductions is the way to appease supporters, or more will walk away from the club for good if the club doesn't start listening to what proper supporters are saying.
Maybe they don't care, seems that way much of the time to me...

Get rid, and why a new piece of plastic every year surely they could just be updated they should also be moving to an app that you use to get in
I was in a meeting discussing travel to Euro 2020 the other day, and it seems this is the way the FA are going. All entry to Wembley for Euro games will be by phone app only, and I understand the plan is to make all Wembley events like this in future.
I guess the advantages are a reduction in ticket distribution costs, and the ability to track fans' activities and locations through geolocation. The downside is that it would discriminate against older fans who don't own smartphones.

Like most who have posted I would just prefer a new card and nothing else. I have loads of scarves & wallets and the rest I tend to bin as soon as I receive it.
As seasoncard prices have increased in 10 of the last 11 years I would suggest most people would prefer at least one price freeze, preferably more.

I like the little bits we get in the renewal tin. Including the tin. If I don't want the bits I give them to my kids / family.
Anybody asking for no gifts and instead having a discount on season cards is living in a dream world.
The gifts we get included probably cost he club literally a few pence per season ticket holder.
Whether the club should freeze prices or reduce tickets prices is another debate, both of which we all agree with.
But lets not kid ourselves that having no little gifts will knock £££s off season card prices.
