Seat Counters - 2024/25

Certainly some of our fans seem to revel in negativity. Supporting City is not compulsory. It's a free choice. If you can't go to Wembley for your own personal reasons that's fine. But don't try and drag everyone else down. Everyone I know is going. You never know how long you will wait for the next Wembley visit.
Brilliant post. It's not a job.

Not a job??? Not a job??? It definitely is, hey just like having a job many hate it but are duty bound to.keep going lol.
Joking aside a lot of people are struggling financially at the present time and there is a bit of a disconnect regarding pricing and the lack of discussion with supporters, but hopefully that's improving.
Enjoy all those that are going, roar the lads onto victory.

Agreed. I said earlier the tickets are too expensive. It is a job for me. A life's work. I love City more than myself.

Sales have been slow, but no different to Chelsea or Sheffield in our previous 2 semi finals. It hasn't even gone on sale to all ST holders yet, and loads will be waiting to buy with mates.

So let's all just CALM DOWN, we'll be fine. Yes I'd love if more ST holders would make the trip, but Wembley isn't special for us anymore, so of course you're going to see more people missing out.

And as for the geordies, don't be fooled. If they'd been as many times as us, they'd be faced with the exact same issues.
A seat counting masterclass. Drawing on experience from previous games, not over reacting, seeing the bigger picture. You’ve got this one mate.

Let’s say 13,000 season ticket holders are going to Wembley (optimistic). Thats 1 in 3. Two thirds of our core fans, who are dedicated enough to own a season ticket, aren’t going to Wembley for a semi final that’s our only possibility of winning a trophy this season. If that’s not ringing alarm bells for someone I don’t know what will.
16:30 Sunday ko is the factor and only factor to why a lot won't be going.

No alarm bells ringing, just working class fans watching the pennies and the inconvenience of getting home before work, school etc on Monday.

The FA don't give a shit about match going fans hence the 4-30 kick-off.
Why not kick-off at 2-00 or 2-30 or the unheard of kick-off time of 3-00? Does it really matter if we clash with a Premier League game on the same day. Watch the team you support not some other mob who happen to be on the telly.
The FA fuck this up every season. The Sunday game should always kick-off at 3-00 at the latest if either team is from more than 100 miles away. I can understand Saturday issues with the 3-00 blackout, but the Sunday semi is hardly likely to impact the attendance at PL games.

City have 37k seasoncard holders and 140,000 match-day members.

Once every one of those seasoncard holders would have gone. Now we've been about 25 times in about 15 years. Wembley semi-finals, and finals remain the highlight of the season for me. I like being part of an army descending on London and experiencing the' anticipation.

On Monday it opens to fans who have been to 4,3,2 FA Cup fixtures since the start of season 2022/23. I don't think I've seen City do that before.

Yep they don't mind the traipsing for a final.
I don’t blame people for that. People want to keep Wembley special for the final because that’s how it should be.

The only reason I go to semis is because I don’t want to have an embarrassing attendance (like my one ticket makes a difference haha), but i don’t agree with a single thing about the semis being at Wembley and I have no problem with anyone who refuses to go.

I know a fella who I thought was mad when he refused to go to the 2011 semi against the Rags, yet he’s never been to any semi at Wembley and I now see he was right all along.

The semis should not be at Wembley. It takes the shine off the final. Especially when two Northern teams or two teams like City and Forest could use Old Trafford which would be much better for both sets of fans.

But he missed one of the club’s greatest ever moments in history. That Ya Ya goal to beat the Rags was one of the best moments in my life. That was the wrong game to boycott.

Most fans hardly ever do an away game and the odd trip to wembley is too much hassle for them

That's because we only get 3,000 tickets maximum and they're not easy to obtain. Once people get out of the habit of going it's hard to just switch it on again.

As for a semi final for many its just too much expense and hassle for a game that if we win they'll have to do it all over again in a month. Once you've been to Wembley a few times you realise it's nothing special, it's just another overpriced stadium, in a shitehole of an area that's awful to get to and away from. That's the reality for many and why they swerve it. No amount of guilt tripping them will change their minds.

Heaven forbid that we have to do it all over again. Crowds of 90,000 with adrenaline and jeopardy are what supporting a football team is all about. I don't believe your comment because if football didn't excite you, you wouldn't be doing something else.

You're point about City not doing it before is pretty important, and in this case I believe we deserve to benefit a little. In the grand scheme of the whole "club alienating legacy fans" from a personal perspective they are also alienating future fans. Our first game was only meant to be a one off special present for our son (11 at the time, 18 now and off to Uni in September), February 2018 and Sergio's 4 goal mauling of Leicester. We've averaged 5 -6 games a season since then, mostly cheaper games against bottom half teams that regulars don't fancy. Also due to me watching notifications and Blue Moon for advice and help, we've got 1 or 2 so called better games. (Spurs away in the FA Cup last season, Arsenal at home when they were supposed to win the league, and best of all Bayern in the Champions league). So now we are in the second category of Cityzens members with 3 FA cup games (Newcastle and Spurs last season and Salford this season. It SHOULD be 4 really as we saw Chelsea in the semi final at Wembley too). We have a little benefit for our efforts this time round. But overall for 3 of us buying Cityzens memberships, travelling 100 miles to the Etihad for the lower category fixtures, City have definitely made it harder for us (and more expensive) since we first came. The lad is off to Stoke to study and we've already sorted him to join the local OSC as his Etihad visits will be up to him going forward, but if he was still at home we'd be winding it back next season, it's more hassle, less choice, and increasing in price progressively.

Everybody is different. I've been going to games since 1968 so I don't need any explanation as to what supporting a football team is all about. Been there, seen it, had the many T-shirts. Paid £100 off a tout for a ticket in the Blackburn end to see us get promoted under Joe Royle. I could fill pages with similar stories.

People change with age and circumstances and while yes, to an extent football still excites me, it doesn't to the level it used to. Reading comments on various threads I don't think I'm alone in those feelings. As I said in the post you quoted me on no amount of cajoling or guilt tripping will change people's opinion on attending the semi final if they've decided not to do so. For those that still love it fantastic, go and enjoy your day/weekend. For everyone one of us who feel a little jaded with it, can't afford it or just can't be bothered it gives an opportunity to somebody who will savour every minute of the occasion and that makes me happy.
