Seat Counters - 2024/25

Do City fans even know they are eligible? Put it upfront on mancity.com that all supporters who have purchased a home ticket since the start of season 2022/23 can purchase 4 tickets.

As it is you have to go to the ticketing account to see the criteria or visit this topic.

The two seasons Forest won the European Cup their average league attendance was 29,000 and 26,000 respectively in a stadium which held over 40,000 at that time. They have never had bigger crowds than City in their entire history. They have got nothing to crow about. I am sure we will end up selling more than 30,000 which is a good turn-out considering the financial state of the North West. Most of our support is not well-heeled. In Greater Manchester our strongholds of support are still in the poorest areas. We have nothing to be embarrassed about. We'll both be there supporting out team and that's all that counts.
I am not sure we will end up selling more than 30,000. We are a long way short of that at the moment.

Excuses or reasons?

I’m not going as I cannot afford the £3/400 it will cost me.

The same as all the other times apart from the finals.

If we took 15k to the Emirates or Stamford Bridge for an FA Cup quarter final tie I doubt that would be embarassing, so why is Wembley any different for a round later?
Because every other club of what we'd consider a similar size to us would sell it out easy.
Of course some can't afford it & that's totally understandable - and would be true for all other clubs in a similar location to us.
But even more fans just can't be arsed going. Certainly is the case among the regular blues I know.

Either you can't afford it or you can't be arsed, there isn't really anything else besides these 2 reasons.

A totally reasonable response. Most people have to pick and choose matches. I have missed a lot this season because of ill health so I am going. But I fully respect anyone's choice. The country is in dire financial straits and most of us are suffering. As far as I am concerned we have always had one of the best away followings for the 60 years I have supported City. We have a long and proud history.

1, We wouldn't get 15000 tickets for a quarter final, so that is a silly hypothesis.

2. At Most away matches it is the same core of supporters, we don't get more than 3000 tickets, the vast majority of supporters NEVER go to an away match, they couldn't get a ticket if they wanted, so a Wembley game is the one realistic chance of going to a game outside the Etihad
3. If it is going to cost you £400 pound for the day I don't blame you for not going.

Thanks for the update. I don't think it will make much difference but I hope to be wrong. I think we have sold about 23500 to 24000. Probably the difference is the estimate of the remaining blocks that are yet to go onsale. Estimates I've seen are 4,000 to 4,500.
There’s around 1800 in rack of the blocks opposite, so likely to be the same, =7200 ish?!

Win tomorrow and Tuesday and interest will spike no doubt.
We need to unite as a fan base at the moment. I wasn't going but decided to in the end. People have varying reasons for not going but lets not be over critical.
It's only a semi final..lets not forget that.

Fair play to everyone who is going.

Since we have a big increase in touristy fans you would think they would have snapped up Wembley tickets.

It’s not a silly hypothesis though. It’s a cup game in London. We’re taking 20k+ for our 30th Wembley trip in 14 years. That should be applauded.

We already get shat on by the club, the media and opposition fans. We don’t need our own fans to dig us out because we’re not meeting the expectations of others who are not in the same position as what we have been/are in.

Who are you saying is a similar size?

United and Liverpool will always sell out as they are far bigger than us and always will be.

Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea will always sell out as it’s a tube ride.

That leaves Villa, Everton, Newcastle as similar sized clubs?

We would never know but in my opinion I highly doubt they would continue selling out for their 30th Wembley trip in 14 years.

It is Silly that you believe we would get 15000 for a quarter final at Arsenal or Chelsea. That is a whopper.
I am not having a go at any fan making the effort to go, I applaud each and every one.
And I don't blame you for not going , £400 quid for a day out is way too much.

If City have got anything about them they’ll send e-mails out to everyone on their mailing list to inform them of the new criteria

We did take 8900 to Spurs last season for an earlier round FA Cup game than a QF. That was on a Friday night and we could’ve sold more if we had the allocation so while 15k is maybe a stretch, 11k or 12k isn’t out of the question.

Four of us will be going and two of us have done every wembley game since 2011, including the covid final against spuds.
I personally like going to wembley but one or two of our group had to think about the last few visits, when in the past they couldn't get there quick enough.
We know all the pitfalls with trips to wembley by now, as we're there basically twice a year for the last 14 years.
Doubt if any northern club has had as many visits there in a 14 year time span.
If we only take 20k there I think it's still a great effort for a Sunday evening.
If you honestly think a similar size club would 'sell it out easy', especially a northern club with the number of trips there in 14 years.
You're on another planet.
