I'm not having a go at anyone nor asking anyone to explain themselves but I am just intrigued by the numbers. I'd expect if 140,000 people have paid £35 memberships for the chance to purchase tickets, they'd then buy the remaining 20,000 seats for an FA Cup semi final whereas I wouldn't expect 140,000 instagram followers to take up the slack.

Firstly, I wonder if overseas members of supporters clubs often take out memberships but with no real intention of buying match tickets.

Also if say 10,000 tickets are sold for each PL game then that's 190,000 in total available so an average of just over 1 PL game per member. I strongly suspect that when the PL tickets go onsale in July/August that there aren't 140,000 members at that point. I don't think City could justify charging £35 for a membership for fans to go to an average of 1 PL game per season and a cap would likely be in place. I think to justify the £35 membership fee City would want fans to be able to go to at least 2 PL games on average, and so that would be 95,000 members looking to buy PL tickets.

I think a lot of memberships then are being taken out to specifically buy CL games and further that points to students buying them as by the time they arrive in MCR the PL games released in July/August are all "sold out". If people are still happy to buy memberships when the PL games are all "sold out" then City will be happy to still sell them and maybe there is a reduced student membership rate. This would partly explain the different composition of the crowd for PL and CL games.

Also, with the FA cup semi final being at the end of April then for students with exams coming up it's not the best time to be going on a 400 mile round trip to Wembley. This would go some way to explaining why a significant number of the 140,000 members weren't looking to buy the remaining 20,000 seats for the FA Cup semi final.

Shocking attitude..I will follow City always to Wembley and sorry it's always a big day out,you sound and I fear our fanbase too is becoming like the arrogant united or dipper fans,myself never C.T I.D.
What’s it got to do with arrogance?

The reasons I would put down for not selling out are:-

Over 30 trips to Wembley in 14 years, including 7 consecutive semi finals;

The distance and cost involved getting from Manchester to London;

Expensive tickets;

A legacy fanbase that’s suffered a lot of issues with the club - no new season tickets, appalling Matchday pricing, a shit show on ticket sales for big games like the Madrid semi final, encouraging day trippers, selling scarce away tickets to non City fans;

The tedious nature of visits to the same shit neutral venue every year - I can actually say that the final against Stoke was a slight anti climax as we’d played the semi there and beaten the rags in the semi - multiply that familiarity factor by 30

A good number who are banned for pitch invasions and other trivial matters

The ridiculous timing making it particularly shit for young kids, people wanting to travel by train, kids about to do GCSE’s and a levels

Etc

I will be going as ever with my 2 lads, but tbh I can afford it and football is my top priority outside my family. To say that people who aren’t going are doing so because they are arrogant is fucking shocking and frankly arrogant

Like me, some fans aren't going out of principal.

I refuse to fill the coffers of the FA and Wembley stadium, which has now been paid for, for a FA Cup - semi-final.

That used to be the FA's excuse. We have to pay off the construction cost of the new Wembley stadium. The FA don't anymore, but they still expect fans from the North to traipse to Wembley twice for a FA Cup - semi-final, and a possible FA Cup - final.

And this year's Cup Final ko time is yet to be confirmed!

We know the date but not the time.

It might not seem like a big deal but it matters to those who will use public transport when trying to get cheaper travel tickets.

Fucking wankers the FA, It's meant to be their showpiece final yet it all boils down to who makes the final and to decide the best tv time!

Soulless money grabbing cunts!

Look at Wembley National Stadium Ltd's accounts, they were £610m in debt and growing. The FA paid off their loans but Wembley is far from washing its own face.

I am pretty sure you are a home and away regular jrb? I know loads of lads who are decades long home and away regulars who can’t be arsed with Wembley for a semi final, and their Blue integrity is completely intact, as is yours

I heard on here that the demand for city matches was through the roof and if we didn’t go someone would replace us.

What this season is showing us, is that it’s clearly not true - unless is a huge game, against the likes of Madrid or Liverpool. Even then the grounds usually full of non city fans.

We clearly don’t have a similar fanbase to the likes of United or Liverpool and when our core fans don’t go, it’s quite noticeable.

Thanks.

I'll have a look at that.

But it isn't up to the fans to pay off the FA's debts. The FA have got themselves into a financial mess. The FA need to sort that out themselves. It's a shame fans in general don't know about that FA's remaining debts.

The Football Association (FA) has completed repaying the debt for Wembley Stadium. The final debt repayment was made in 2024. The stadium's construction, which cost £757 million, was funded through a loan, which the FA has since repaid.

Key points about the payment:
  • Repayment: The FA's remaining debt was fully repaid by 2024.
  • Debt Reduction: After refinancing the loan in 2015, the FA had £142 million remaining debt, which was cleared by 2024.
  • Financial Impact: The completed debt repayment will allow the FA to reinvest £2 million to £3 million annually, previously used for interest payments.

Which is good! Might wake the club up from their current policies.

I do go to as many away games as I can. Working on Saturday's doesn't help. I can do Sunday away games as my other day off is on a Monday.

Apart from everything else I really hate Wembley stadium and the contrived and orchestrated match day experience it has become.

If I hear Rocking All the World by Staus Quo once again after an FA Cup final win, I will fucking scream.

Ok about that status quo dirge, although I’d just about prefer to hear it after a win than a defeat
