Seat Counters 25/26

Another 163 added to block 005 for Leverkusen. These are UEFA returns.

Apart from this theres hardly any seats left in Level 0 or 1. The same thing happened for Dortmund, although with that it was clear that the seats had been taken off sale at once and given away to schools etc.

I've not been watching this once very closely, do we think the same has happened here or has it sold out naturally? Might be one for @M18CTID

Definitely more natural sales for Leverkusen. For Dortmund hundreds of tickets in each of blocks 315,316,317, and 318 disappeared off the planner some days before the game. I’m guessing something similar happened with a few other blocks elsewhere in the stadium. For this match, I’ve not noticed anything like that happening. There are still hundreds of seats left in each of those aforementioned blocks but as sales have been brisk, I don’t think we’ll see loads disappear off the planner this time.

Regarding block 005 that you mentioned, that’s clearly a sought after block as those 163 tickets flew off the shelves last night.

Cheers, I wonder if the fact that they've put it on general sale with no Membership or Purchase history required is just helping to keep sales ticking along nicely. Still not convinced it'll sell out completely, but should be an alright crowd

Yes I checked a couple of hours after and those seats in 005 were already down to 80, so definitely not surprised they've now sold.

Yeah, I think sticking it on general sale has definitely helped. Some people simply don't want the hassle of having to sign up as a member and going through all that rigmarole, and would prefer to just log on and buy a ticket. Tickets are also cheaper than the Dortmund game. Although not hugely cheaper, I'm guessing it's had an impact of sorts

I'm getting bomarded with adverts for it on social media. If they've put it on Open Sale then I think that might be the first time they've done that since the big push for memberships a couple of years ago. They've allowed people to buy extra tickets but not this. It's a clear push for the casual fan/tourist, of which I think there are a lot.

Only one I can think of is that Watford EFL Cup game last season, I remember it because the ground was filled with FC Twente fans who were playing the rags the next day.

You're right though, I can't think of any others, and it's certainly been a while since a Champions league game went on open sale.

To your last point, I know quite a few lapsed blues (Some now ST holders at Stockport County) going to both this and the Brentford game, knowing they don't have to fork out for memberships.

I’m sure it is the Viking factor.

Right time to get stuck in.

Leverkusen:

3,019 left almost all on Level 3.

Brentford:

L0: 6,084
L1: 3,852
L3: 9,189
Total Left: 19,125 (Approx 500 sold since Wirral Blue's count this time yesterday)
Both looking touch and go for a sell out. I'm on these with you now. Are we confident on accuracy?

Bigger question:

What happened to the algorithm? Is it lurking somewhere like a dragon, waiting for it's moment? Is it already in play?

I don't think there's been much to suggest that there's higher powers at play just yet, however I will say I've been keeping a close eye on Madrid sales and the algorithm has put me right in my place with that one. It's been more of a wild goose chase then a seat count.

For Leverkusen only the bottom half of the 313 away end has gone on sale so far, expecting another 500-1000 to come on at some point, and these need to be factored into calculations.

Why would they put the algorithm into play for Real Madid away? Surely that one's not going to be a sellout. It seems pointless.

Seats in each block seem to trickle down and then just before they get to 0, about 50-100 more get added. This has happened 3 times in Block 633, I'm beginning to wonder how big this block actually is! Whether it's the algorithm or just returns I'm not sure. Not sure why they would put it in place, but I'm certainly being kept on my toes.

As long as it's not the local Turkish community building a purchase history for when they really need a ticket.

Hopefully Galatasaray haven't got a game in Manchester on the horizon

I rekon you'll have needed a matchday memberships since before the draw for that one. I hope so anyway, can never be sure with our ticket office.

As the sales criteria will be pretty restricted, the club could do themselves a favour and get these on sale ASAP

Is there likely to be trouble at that fixture, do you think?

I'm not sure there will be trouble, but after what happened at the swamp, it would be naive to think that some of the local Turkish community won't already have a membership and a buying history at the Etihad

It only seems like yesterday but I had a buying history at Hamburg and was able to get tickets for the home end when City played in the Europa League Quarter Final.

It happens everywhere but in greater numbers in certain cities.
