Seat Counters 25/26

Respect
Wembley seat counting dried up after our sell out. So straight to league fixtures.
Amazing dedication.
Seat counting premier league games is like whack a mole when it reaches the last few days. It’s pretty much meaningless as seat exchange tickets pop up all the time. You are more looking at the direction it’s moving rather than the numbers: is demand to buy higher than natural wastage?

Written like a true experienced seat counter. Keep up the good work

I can honestly say I’ve never ever been to a home or away game and paid any attention to how many fans were attending. And even when I watch a game on the telly it’s the last thing on my mind.

Talk about killing a thread, seat counting is one of the most exciting things known to man, and here you are not giving a fuck, may God have mercy on you.

It’s only since we’ve become successful and the dominant force in English football that empty seats have become THE talking point, well apart from the 115 bullshit

I always look at attendances of all games I look at the scores for, not just City. I look at average attendances over seasons, attendance changes by clubs, all-time highest and average attendances of clubs.

And not just PL, I even look down the leagues and have a look in other countries.

I know something’s wrong if Bradford City don’t get around 21k and especially look at Atlético Madrid as I notice patterns in their attendances that fluctuate like ours do, their home games range from 54k to 69k.

I even look at other sports and know highest and average attendances of teams. I posted this in the rugby league thread last night, for example:

First guess it that they’ll give us 7000 and we would sell them all with similar sales criteria to today. Knowing City they’ll see the rush for Arsenal tickets and get too strict again. I know I was 100% going until I found out there was no return train and others will be the same I assume.
Yeah, the train situation will put a few off. In any case, even if they were running normally you can’t get back on a Saturday night following an 8pm kick-off. I almost canned it off myself but thought with no work the next day fuck it and going to do the coach instead.

I still think we should sell a 7000 allocation with it being a weekend game. We sold 8900 for Spurs away on a Friday night a couple of seasons ago

You sir, are the seat counter goat, well done sir, its a privilege that a city fan is so deadecated on not just the premier league but other leagues as well

361 seats available in the East Stand. 242 seats available in the North Stand. 290 seats available in the South Stand. 318 seats available in the Colin Bell Stand. And that doesn't include all the Viagogo ones the club has held back.

Looking at around 49,000-51,000 attendance? Cheapest ticket is £53... for a rearranged game. The club just aren't getting it, are they?

Any third party returns would've already gone back on the planner so what we're seeing available now will be virtually all seat exchange tickets. Agree about the pricing but while we can blame the club for some things, it's not City's fault that this is a rearranged game and pricing for it would've been determined back in the summer. They're far more short-sighted when pricing up midweek league games - games that were always scheduled for midweek and haven't been rearranged from a weekend - at similar prices to this one.

For all the talk of there being lots of no shows for this game due to Piccadilly station being closed, there are a lot less tickets showing as available than I expected. I think the ground will be relatively full tomorrow night

I reckon this is why the club brought in that Ticket compliance manager and introduced this season’s stupid rules on attendance and transferring.

We have relatively cheap season tickets and usually at least 5 or 6 huge home games and Wembley finals which would return massive profits even if the seat is unsold for lots of games.

Yes, thats exactly the issue. I met a guy who touts for a living - and he and his associates own dozens of season tickets for all the big clubs, and buy and transfer the tickets. They're happy to take the hit on the Fulham midweek games as they more than make it back on the big cup games and Cat A games. And if they don't, they get a free night out at the match...

Introducing the attendance and non-transfer rules have been to try and crack this sort of touting. However, its a sledgehammer approach which I'm pretty sure the club thought wouldn't affect genuine supporters. I'm still not sure they realise that the transfer rules in particular stop new fans (and the next generation) from attendance and then the addiction we all "enjoy".

It's truly ridiculous, in this day and age of forensic digital tracking, that Clubs can't enforce their own T&C's to control industrial-scale touting. Treating genuine long-term supporters (and the next generation) as collateral damage is not only commercial suicide, it's shameful mismanagement.

It's akin to putting a restraining order on a complete neighbourhood, because the sex offender at No 9 can't keep his knob in his kecks.

Allegedly.

an increase on yesterday's figure - season ticket holders listing them for sale? if anyone wants to go and doesn't want to pay the prices from City, there are plenty available on Facebook ticket pages for £20-£30.

Problem is that we're asking them NOT to enforce their T&Cs for those of us who occasionally give STs to our neighbour when we can't go, and to enforce them on the true problem area of multiple tickets bought purely for resale at a profit. There's a balance that needs to be found.

Remember it has already sold out once. The returns are pretty low. It will be full with a raucous atmosphere.

A new fan then.

If you were around in the 60s and 70s , your own eyes and a knowledge of capacity was the only way of knowing the attendance on any given match day.

The football Pink wasn't entirely accurate-:)
Or Mr Swales

It would be very easy for the club to stamp out the online touting if they wanted to. All they'd have to do is randomly buy some of the tickets and they'd be able to see who they had sold them to in the first place.
