just had an email off City advising that this season to ease congestion & speed entry to the ground I will only be able to use 1 turnstile to gain entry & also Gate 7 will be permanently closed.
Am I going mad or will someone please explain how reducing the turnstiles that I (we) use can speed things up ?

If people are given the choice of turnstiles they will usually choose the most convenient for them and not for the club getting people into the ground. Restricting people to only one turnstile, I assume, helps to eleviate that problem. It also helps the flow of people once in the stadium coming into the stadium by the closest to your seat helps by not having to cross people going in the opposite direction. Not by much I admit because you will always get people wandering around anyway.

By restricting fans to one turnstile the club will know exactly the maximum potential number through each separate entrance. That will allow them to strategically deploy the right amount of security personnel (particularly on a male/female ratio) at each entrance to minimise any possible disruption to valued supporters and enhance their match going experience.

Just think about the logistics of moving 50,000 plus people into and out of a confined space comfortably and safely - then consider need for absolute vigilance in the current climate. Is it too much to ask people to give themselves a bit more time and use a specific turnstile.
Give yourself a bit more time and ease the burden..

I was there with half an hour to spare 3 times last season & missed kick off , seriously thought about packing it in but relented thinking City would surely sort it out, with what's going on at the moment regardless of me being pissed off what about the fact thousands will be stuck in que's and a sitting target for any nutter.

Haven't got a problem with it. Everyone goes to the correct and easiest turnstile and they can allocate their security staff properly.

Us fans can also have to do our bit as well, have all your shit ready before you get to the turnstile and don't turn up just before kickoff and then start moaning when you miss the start of the match.

Doesn't it also depend on how many turn up at each turnstile carrying bags? And how many are late or early arrivals?

There's probably logic to it, but I must admit I don't get it. If I arrive at the ground and see 4 queues I usually go to the shortest. Which surely helps regulates the lengths of the queues. If I'm compelled to only go to one then isn't there more potential for there being some short queues and some very long queues just before kick off.

Last year my season card listed Entrance T or R, this year it says Entrance T

Nothing to do with emails

Having just read my email, and as there is not a turnstile allocated to me, I read it as whichever of the turnstiles I choose, once in the Q you will not be able to jump to the shortest..i.e. there will be complete rails seperating every Q . Which could be ok so long as not behind those with paper tickets who have no idea what to do......
At the end of the day, given current times, we all want safety first. We accept it at airports. Imagine if someone got in ground......does not bear thinking about.
Just be reasonable............

What about outside the ground while we're all stuck in que's ?

your entrance is on your season card.

Besides, not much point worrying about being blown up inside when it's much easier to blow people up outside waiting in the queue.

My season card has always said B to K but this year it just says B. Happens that I have only ever used B because its closest to my seat, so for me no change as such. I havent had an email but im sure its purely to do with logistics .

Personally never had any issue getting in because we always head into the stadium at least 40 mins before kick off for some reason.

I've decided to forego the Eccles coach & am sitting here outside entrance P waiting for the gates to open. Could someone bring me a mac with a hood please. Had ny hair done today. Don't bother with umbrellas I have a phobia against them. This one person Gazebo is helping. Don't ask me to save you a place I am a one woman revolt against queues!! :-)
