Seeing City fans in public

A guy came up to me on Hebden Bridge station a few weeks back. Chatted to him for a while until his train came.

On holiday this year with my nipper walking down the road, he had his City shirt on and we spotted another Blue across the road. We actually crossed the road just to let on to him (the "alright Blue" line was used), weird how you react when you're along way from home and spot another Blue, no way i'd do that if i was in town.

It must be a family thing, letting on that your not alone and proud to show your colours.

Do others fans do this or are we a rare breed?

Nothing better on Holiday abroard than strolling round the resort and seeing a kid with his top on. I always go over and say "love your shirt mate" and then watch the Father beam with pride.

Me too but I do it in this country too.

Beep other Blues with the kit/ air freshener/ whatever in their car and give it the clenched fist salute and thumbs up though this seems to just cause confusion usually as they think they've upset someone lol!

I live in Aberdeen and always give a nod or say something when I see a City shirt as most folk up here are United fans.

There was a guy cleaning our street the pother morning with a City hat on and I had to ask him, you following City mate?

i always like to give a nod and say hello to a fellow blue.
at one time i thought i was one of but a few brave enuf to wear the shirt in public and show i was proud to be a blue (with the obvious exceptions of the real fans who turned up in their thousands on bleak cold wet midweek nights in the winter to watch us lose ....again !!
nowadays it has to be said the number of shirts on the street is massive
all revenue for the club tho i guess and not as many in my experience are the new ones lol
one thing i love about city fans tho is we have such a great sense of humour....those who have been around a while appreciate the long hard lean years and are now really starting to smile and revel in our new found success
long may it continue

Slightly different but hey ho! I was in Tesco Express in Whalley Range the other morning waiting to pay for some Shower Gel I'd just got, wearing my Umbro City Rain Jacket. When one of their staff ran over with two more of the same item.

Confused as I was? he simply said 'Relax'. 'It's buy one get another two free'. I was a bit bewildered but he winked and simply replied 'trust me'. Bare in mind when I picked it up their was nothing to indicate this deal was on offer?. However when I went to pay, it was spot on. So I got three Radox Shower Gels for the price of one.

As I was leaving I went to thank him and he nodded at me. 'For a fellow Brother Blue, it's never a problem'.

Just think it's great how City fans stick together and help each other out even when there is no need? It wouldn't have made any difference to him had I not taken advantage of the deal. But he saw the colours, noticed I wasn't aware of the deal and went out of his way to sort me out.

Trivial maybe? But it made my morning better.

Went to the Manchester science museum today with my son and girlfriend, she brought her 10 year old cousin wearing his scum top, naturally I was wearing mine.

Anyway, pushing my son round a guy grabs my attention and says, can't believe you've got him wearing that top mate (about my girlfriends cousin), 'don't worry mate if he was mine I'd have disowned him was my reply' both our partners faces were a picture as me and the fellow blue laughed!

How do you react? As I live in the west midlands, seeing a city shirt is rare, always use the "great shirt that" line.

One morning a couple of months back I was walking down platform 1 at Rugby station with the new away shirt on. I walked past a bloke who was standing there with a woman and he said those exact words: "great shirt that!"

I was in Egypt last year and was having a beer at the pool bar, some bloke saw my tatts and introduced himself. Had a good chat about the old days, seems he had left Manchester and been travelling for 15 years but always kept informed with City. Top bloke who left me some cans of lager and weed as he was flying that afternoon. Always ask if they go on Bluemoon aswell :)

I work in Burton on Trent in the week and it's plastic rag central. There are so few blues that I probably know them all by name. But I saw a kid of about 8 with the full kit on in the supermarket queue last week. I said to his dad 'nice kit mate' and it turned out he was a rag but his missus is from Chorlton and has clearly won the battle.
