Self-employed & Coronavirus

My brother is a lighting designer. All of his tours are canned, Glastonbury, tv work etc

Been doing it for donkeys but now it’s ground to a halt. Hopefully the government steps in

If they do not help, and I wouldn't want much, I can promise that if I survive this, I shall not pay any more tax, nada. Like many self employed , I am a grafter, now I cannot graft.
25 years, self employed, now they want to offer 94 quid a week. Stuff that .
 
The wife and I own a small commercial laundry, our customers are hotels,B&Bs, rentals etc etc , 3 of our girls left last year due to various personal stuff, marriage, illness and college. We have 2 girls ready to start but that wont be happening
....Just done some number crunching and I reckon as ' as it stands as of today ' we have a 6 month cushion. However with travel embargoes/curfews imminent, we could totally dry up, ie , not even turn the lights on....in which case our 6 month cushion become 6 months survival. The knock on effects for the tourist industry doesn't stop there, people will not be willing to spend as much, if indeed they have anything left to spend, holiday leave will almost undoubtably have been used up so people wont be flocking to these areas in any great hurry. Hey ho, maybe next year...
 
As a self employed joiner I was going work today
Just had news a friend of mine ( very fit lad no drinking or smoking) is on life support stepping hill hospital this has knocked it home too me , I understand the financial hardship we are gonna be under . Hopefully the goverment will put summat together to help but any ov you lads out there in same position please be careful and think ov your loved ones

Wow that’s awful mate ,hope he pulls through.Think we are going on lock down tomorrow, boss has primed us this morning.
