Sergio Aguero 2015/16 performances

One of the manager's big failings of the past couple of years is finding a way to support Aguero so he isn't so isolated all the time while not giving up the control and possession in the midfield. KDB is the key to this; he simply has to play in the middle off Kun but working at digging in to make it a midfield three at times as well. We definitely need that link from midfield to attack and then players who are prepared to run past Aguero, as Hargreaves mentioned none stop all night.

This is priority no.1 for Pep when he arrives.

I'm not having anyone slag off Aguero until he has a game against a good side where he isn't surrounded by three defenders.

One thing I've always noticed about him is he often doesn't directly challenge for a ball lumped up in his vague direction. Have always assumed that as a short arse he figures he has a better chance of getting a second ball misplaced clearance than winning the first ball. As such I didn't think last night his approach to these balls was much different than his standard approach.

Although he didn't look on his game, at times when we were in control of possession we still often only had him, De Bruyne and Navas pushing the Madrid back line. When faced with 4 decent defenders and 2 or 3 midfielders dropping back we looked like we didn't know where to turn.

Ilove you too :D

In a more serious note, people who were noticing Silva's or Zabaleta's decline early were being met with WTF, "you're idiot", "you're clueless" and such too. Now pretty much everyone recognizes they're not the players they used to be.

It's hard to be realistic for fans about players they like so much and that have done so many good things for their clubs. Some other think they're the biggest Blues on the planet if they shit all over you if you don't have only superlatives about some players no matter what. I couldn't give less shit about the second group though.

True up to a point but trying to spot a player's decline is ultimately self defeating as any downturn in form can be highlighted as player losing their edge. It's more likely that Silva and Zabba have dropped off given their age and injuries. Aguero's still in his prime - you might be right that he's suddenly on a downward curve but equally he might be carrying a couple of knocks and be a bit out of form. Only time will tell. What we do know is that in plenty of games this season he's been starved of chances and has been up top on his own for much of the year. I suspect there's not too much up with him that a proper summer break from football wouldn't fix.

He's changed since we bought him and I'm not so sure it's for the best.

When he first arrived he would chase and harras defenders along with Tevez.
He never gave defenders a minutes rest and several times this forced mistakes which he would benefit from.

He seems to have become very predictable and he doesn't really chase the defenders like he used to. Maybe the injuries effected him mentally if my physically.
He's not been the same for a while. It could be that he's just overworked, he definitely needs support.

I certainly hope so, would be happy to be wrong.

Though he is 28, like Messi, and I wouldn't call either as players in their prime. Messi is not as good as he was 2-3 years ago too.

That is why I think it's not just the dip in form. He's just not playing the same style of football anymore. Injuries surely played part in that so he's trying to adjust his game but it's just not the same Kun he was 2-3 years ago.

The second is that he is rarely able to run through players like he regularly used to. He lost yard of pace that was helping him with that and these days he often run into 2-3 players and lose the ball easily. At some times his attempts of dribblings remind of Dzeko's worst and it's bit sad to see.
