Raheem can play left and Kev is used to playing right- we lacked an out an out striker

NO. NO WE DIDN'T. We needed Kev in the middle - I really couldn't have made that point any bloody clearer in my post. If you're going to disagree with it fine, we're on here for debate and all that, but don't just not read it and say the same bullshit you picked up from listening to McMinimum and the gang on BT Sport.

We don't have an out and out striker who can lead the line in defence the way that KDB did on Wednesday. Until Aguero becomes that, he is never going to play in those circumstances.

KDB as a false 9 worked very well, and if you can't see that you might as well stop watching football to be honest. The pressing we were able to do, and the amount of bodies we had in midfield disrupted Barcelona's possession so much that Enrique had them resorting to long balls from the centrebacks to Suarez. And until Bravo cocked up we were mopping up those balls with ease - especially once Pique was taken off.

Barcelona, at home, had to completely change the way they were playing, and only had even possession at home. It's completely unheard of, and we forced Barcleona into playing some of the worst football they've played in a long, long time.

But to people like you, apparently that's it not working. Apparently when you see us creating chances through having 6 midfielders, it's a tragedy Aguero isn't there - despite the fact if he was there, we'd have never created the chances in the first place, Barcelona would have had 15% more possession and we'd have been seeing exactly the same crap we saw under Pellegrini with them running all over us.

well that''s your opinion , we did get the extra body in mid field but didn't have an outlet to finish what chances which were being created. Kdb himself admitted it's not his best position but he will do what the coach asks him to do. Therein lies the difference it seems , that Kdb is applying himself more than kun which I think was the reason pep dropped him.

but if tolmie says there is nothing to all the rift nonsense , I would be happy to see kun back in the starting XI vs southampton.

The hacks are jumping on the rift story because they have no idea about peps tactics, they don't want to learn they deal in soundbites only,if i could see why he didn't play so we could have an extra midfielder then they must be able to see it,talksport this morning said peps ego is running away with him by freezing out certain players, did they say the same when pisscan and maureen do it,i think not

I dont bother listening or watching any of sports media because I know what there agenda is! We just got to win our next game then put the scum back in there "undefeated in 6 games in all competitions"!! BOX

Another striker and not a midfielder masquerading as a striker, horses for courses etc etc with a striker on the pitch we may well have done them but that is also hard to say after everything else went down, they hammered every single mistake we made and we didn't do likewise.
He may be another midfielder by trade ,but he certainly would of been on hand to bag a few of the pullbacks that went begging

Thing is mate without the extra midfielder there's no guarantee the chances would've been made in the first place. Past performances at the Nou Camp have shown us that we found it very difficult to create chances because we couldn't retain possession for long enough owing to being outnumbered in the middle.

The people who reported on the match are simply having to deduce why Sergio didn't play, from their own desks.

They can't say "I don't know what the fuck is going on", as that would actually be the truth.

So in turn, they infer and be suggestive, to the point it makes for a much better story to suggest our "best player" and a manager who has suddenly become no better than Steve Bruce, are at odds.

It causes days of tittle tattle until at some point, Sergio scores a hat-trick ('and then it's see, Pep, you fucked up mate' ) or Sergio goes a few games without a goal (and it's Sergio's rift with Pep is impacting his natural game')

I'm sure Pep will continue to be bemused by the questions he receives today.

I am ashamed and embarrassed by the standards of football news journalism in the last decade.

They either get spoon-fed by the clubs (I'm sure City are briefing against Pep and Kun, not!) or they just aren't very good, and don't have a relevant contact between them.

And that's the truth, trust me.
This is harsh.

There were hints that Kun was somewhat out of favor with Pep before the Barca match. Several posters stated that Kun wasn't doing enough off the ball - in terms of pressing. And that Kun, contrary to Pep's wishes was abandoning his striker position, moving back to get the ball.

So there was some reason to believe that Pep wasn't happy with what Kun was doing.

Pep is a strong manager - and won't hesitate to drop anyone who isn't on message.

Then, against Barca, our toughest match of the season, Aguero - who isn't injured, and who is our best striker and top goal scorer doesn't start.
============
Yeah it's pure speculation as to why Kun didn't start.

But if you're trying to explain this, then either you must conclude that Kun wasn't our best option, or that Pep is sending a message.

The second interpretation - though it might well be wrong - is consistent with the view that Pep isn't happy with Kun's pressing and dropping back.

IMO, the second interpretation is correct - pure speculation - and, yeah, I for sure don't know what the hell is actually going on - but I've a brain - and can infer logical consequences.

Its easy after the event isn't it but I don't remember seeing so many pullbacks/crosses that went begging before
