Sergio Aguero - 2016/17 performances

Pep has handled the situation very well in the press IMO

He has stated that Aguero is very important and that the club can't achieve their targets without him. This is true because putting all our in faith in only Jesus is wrong. Aguero needs to hit top form and everyone will get game time as there is still a lot to play for.

The media highlighted his reaction to the Jesus goal.

He looks a little worried to be honest. Its a wake up call for him. Would love to see Kun start one of the next games and score 2-3 goals, to show everyone he is still top dog. Its something I would expect from a player of his class.

It's not his work-rate, or even form in front of goal.

He's a selfish player - even at his best he rarely passed unless he thought he'd get it back for an attempt on goal. Plenty of strikers are like that, but it is a problem for some times of team / tactic. He's always taken too many touches. Compounded by the loss of pace. He can't just waltz past players.

Something has gone wrong in his mental game. He isn't anticipating... maybe it's more that he's not adjusting. All he's thinking about is that opening for a shot. The rest of his game has vanished. He dawdles so much it's painful to watch. Passing is an afterthought. He's not aware of what is around him. The stop start stuff is more like start stop. Kills momentum. Out of sync with the teams movement. Crucially - for me - he almost never receives the ball on the move. And rarely 'goes in' on a defender. They have a relatively easy time of it. Keep him in front of you. One more criticism - how many dozens of pin point, fast, low balls has Kolarov delivered into the space behind defenders, and no-one is EVER there. Who the hell else is going to do it if not Sergio?

He has this look.... kind of bemused but blameless. Staring at some imaginary point in the distance. Seems sort of self-absorbed. Not engaged.

I hope he gets it sorted. He has wasted time... I don't know why. But it doesn't matter. He's got the best moments of his career to come.

Perceptive post.

He's like Carlitos, prefers to pass to players he deems good enough & ignores those he deems inferior.

Part of Razzas confidence issue stems from Kuns attitude ' you are not worthy'. Kun still doesn't converse in English after 6 years!!

SS&J are all of a similar age,all new to the club & already appear to have formed a bond based on mutual likes, hard work & respect.

AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 93-20 is rightly legendary folklore but Kun is definitely not the same player. He's got a genuine challenge for a place now for the first time since he joined.

I hope he's got the strength of character for the fight.

1 assist all season is something that might not have worried much if he was putting the ball in the net consistently, but when he isn't its not good enough especially for what pep looks for from his strikers. I still think his best all round performance this season was the barcelona home game in which ironically he didn't score but was pretty much involved in all the teams best attacks. Not only was he selfless without the ball in closing down and making runs to create space for others but on the ball it was pretty much the ultimate performance you would want from a striker. He must have set up at least three chances for the team that day and was always looking to play his teammates in first time without hesitation. Since that game he hasn't come close to that kind of complete performance even with his goals.

I think that's what pep is looking at getting more of from him as he has the ability to do that. I especially remember sterling getting visibly angry at him recently against west ham when he decided to shoot from a tight angle when a ball across goal would have left him(sterling) with a simple tap-in. That can affect a player like sterling going forward and I doubt that he would've made the kind of runs behind he's made the last couple of games with jesus in the side that's created a lot openings for the team if aguero was there. The anticipation or expectation of him getting it back would be pretty low. The quicker aguero trusts his teammates and realises that he can still win the team games without his goals but in other areas and in being more of a team player the better it would be for everyone else as he certainly has it in him to be that.

Everton away at 0-0 had sagna to his right could have played him in spurs at home first half could have played sane in Burnley at home at 1-0 had Silva to his left should have played it to him but then a few minutes later scored with a wonderful finish Aguero world class finisher not a world class player

Almost cried when that header flew over the bar, think the writing is well and truly on the wall. Coming from his biggest fan.

Would have loved him to head it on to Jesus for the trick!

Still a big player for us, don't let the media etc make you believe otherwise!

I actually think Sane should have made way for him earlier (I think Sterling was having a better game)

Did brilliant to get to the underhit pass by Yaya in the build up to the winner.

I'm sure the press will continue to shit stir - after all, no team has ever had more than one in form striker so kun must be leaving?
We shouldn't buy into this bollocks, its been as clear as day since last year that we need to have options so our season doesn't stop if kun gets injured or knackered.

He played well when he came on, good movement, good tenacity & good strength. Unlucky not to get his goal.

The talk about him currently is madness, it's been 2 games, and Jesus/Sterling/Sane are in form at the moment - simply not the time to be dropping them. He'll get his chance to get his place back & I'd be surprised if he didn't take it. Just needs to be patient & keep fighting during this rough patch.
