Never ever write him off. I’ve a feeling that will fall on deaf ears in some quarters on here...

Thought he looked really fresh and bang in form, I'd be worried if I was one of the teams we're coming up against as he looked read to go on a rampage

Needed that goal, fresh injection of confidence for the weekend. Looked sharp and quick today, definitely needs to start at the weekend.

No shit.

I hereby make a prediction: he’ll see out his contract. Until then he’ll have iffy-spells, like he frequently has since he scored ‘that’ goal. And people on here, blues and not, will come on this thread, or its successors, and write him off. ‘He’s lost his pace/his killer instinct/he doesn’t look interested’ - [delete as appropriate]. And he’ll prove them wrong, again and again. And then he’ll go home.

Played really well tonight and looks finally to be over the car crash.

Very pleased Sergio did get the message to score into the low corner.
No chance for a keeper to get down.
That's the way aha aha I like it...

So so so happy for him :)

Thought he looked really sharp, finishing was a bit iffy though. I’ve always maintained that he’s trying to do the same things he did at his absolute peak, except right now he’s much slower and not as clinical.

very glad he scored yesterday, you could see he was trying the whole time for this kind of run to the goal, failed twice but the third time is a charm

How high up this list do you think he'll get?

It depends how long he's here for and what sort of competition he's got for his spot. But assuming he's here until the end of next season (obviously could be sooner/later), without any major fitness problems, then he could make a reasonable push for the 165 mark. That wouuld leave him in 6th or 7th depending on Defoe.

He shouldn't be allowed to leave until he gets 176. Which actually if he comes out of this period of average form since breaking the record (and it looked like he was on the way up again yesterday) should be very doable in this side by the end of next season. 44 more goals in 59 games is well within his reach.
