Sergio Aguero - 2017/18 performances

For me Aguero is a 30 goal a season man, with those round him adding 8-10 each. But Pep would prefer all forwards getting 20 a season each.

I think summer 18 is the natural progression for him to leave.

The bigger problem is that Sergio was a 25 league goals a season man in a team scoring 80 goals a season.

Now he's in a team that could score 120 and he's still looking like a 25 goal striker.

Pep's shown at Barca & Bayern he has no problem with scoring dominated by 1 player, but in a team that creates so many chances, that 1 player needs to be getting 40-50 in all comps.

Yes, completely irrelevant to the point nearly everyone is making.

His record, his ability, doesn't give him a free pass to take up a slot on the teamsheet and not follow the tactical instructions that every other player is following. If he doesn't perform he should be subbed or benched like anyone else would. Spurs game a case in point. He had a clear kick up the arse last year and was all the better for it, he needs another one. If he isn't fit enough to do so due to injury then his game time needs to be managed (which is exactly what is currently happening).

But doesn't answer the question of who should replace him, besides Sanchez if he comes,if Aguero does not accept the kick up the arse, continues to sulk and leaves, you surely would be gutted if that happened

It's fuck all to do with either of them scoring goals but about who would press Spurs' back line into making mistakes more so the team could benefit. He pressed well first half but totally stopped in the first 10 minutes of the second and rightly got subbed.
I literally read on the page that I posted that someone believed the crux of Guardiola's thinking will be if he can rely on Sergio for goals.

Well the great thing about Sanchez is that if we did see Aguero go, he'd take up any immediate goal scoring slack, which would mean we can go after a younger player who will become the next world class striker if we prefer that to spending huge on Dybala, Icardi etc.

It’s got sod all to do with memories or sentiment.

It’s just that at present Jesus is better at his role in the high press than Aguero. Aguero was doing it brilliantly until the accident although we’ve all now read he’s nursing a heel injury which may explain it.

Also note that just because people think we look a better team with one player at the minute or any mean the knives are out for the other one. It’s not an either/or in the slightest. Aguero is my hero and I’d have his babies.

What is noticeable is that those alarmed that Aguero may not be the number one striking choice are also much the same posters that lost their shit at Hart departing.

Well until we see someone better than Aguero,it is up for debate, and sentiment does have a part to play here,he's hardly at retirement age is he ?

As for Hart,so apt that you raise this again,as we saw last season his replacement was no better, although you did beg to differ at every opportunity, this time around it is, so on we go,and not everyone thinks we are a better team without Aguero in it,that is just the starry eyed fans of the manager who go with what he thinks that's all,and so far he is calling it right, but winning a trophy or 2 this season will need the input of Aguero, without question.

Of course I would, I love him. He doesn't need to leave, though. It's completely up to him. If he doesn't want to work his arse off like everyone else (compare his work rate to KDB at the moment) and wants to leave, then I'll be gutted but wish him all the best, knowing we've had the best out of him. It's up to the club's extensive scouting time to find an able replacement, something they will already be doing given his age.

Again, that doesn't have to happen. He just needs to work harder and he can if he wants to. If he's injured, he needs time on the bench, he's not exactly in prolific form and I don't think we'd miss him right now, given the form of our midfielders/wingers in front of goal.

He'd be getting a lot more stick if it wasn't for the form of KDB/Sterling/Sane/Silva. The same can be applied for Jesus, but we're tactically better with him at the moment even without goals.

Do you agree that Ederson now is better than Hart?

Comments like this are just so, so shit.

If it were up to people like you we'd still have Yaya & Joe Hart starting every week.

Being great for the last 6 years doesn't give you immunity, that's not how football or any other sport works.

And no one thinks you're a bigger blue because you side with players over a manager, it just makes you look like a child who cares more about the sentiment around 1 player than the success of the entire club.

It shouldn’t give Aguero immunity but it shouldn’t cause other ‘fans’ to write him off a few games back from injury when, if youd been watching him play the last few seasons, you’d see that he normally takes a while to get back up to full speed. How many goals has he scored this season? How many goals did he score last season? The season before that? He’s the record goalscorer for the club, if you’re not prepared to give him more than 5 games to prove himself after proving himself for the previous 250, then you can’t call yourself a fan. Simple as that. How long have you been watching City again?

Sorry what injury is he a few games back from? Are you talking about the rib injury in September? The one 16 games ago?
