Sergio Aguero announces his retirement | A thread to pay tribute

This is heart-breaking. Really struggled to watch it.
You and many , many more! It is heart-breaking to watch and really shows what football means to this man. I can honestly say I will never love a sportsman as much as I do Sergio. Can not wait for him to come back and say a proper goodbye but just imagine it. I think it could top everything - love you Sergio!

He was fast. Could dribble. Shoot with either foot. Head the ball. Strong. Low centre of gravity and not easily pushed off the ball. Scorer of spectacular and important goals. Delivered on the big occasion. Scored a record number of goals for us, and the best premier league goals to minutes ratio ever. More hat tricks than anyone. Ultra nice guy. Unbelievably handsome. Blimey!! What a guy!!
We were so, so lucky to have him with us throughout all those glory years, and he delivered the most important, thrilling moment to date in our club's proud history.
Thanks Sergio. We knew you were something special from the first moment we saw you at the Etihad. You truly, truly delivered for us. Enjoy the rich rewards you earned and we hope that you'll stay with us in some capacity forever.

Watched it live and didn't enjoy it one bit. Uncomfortable seeing a legend looking lost and defeated. They should have let him do it pre recorded in my opinion. But what a legend. Never thought we'd get him, never thought he'd stay so long, we've been so so lucky.

He's brought so much joy and excitement to us and the Premier League, always, always welcome in Manchester. The best.

I absolutely want to see Sergio, Silva, Vinny, Zaba and Yaya back at the Etihad soon. Ten year anniversary needs planning in.

Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is next asked about Sergio Aguero, who has of course just announced his retirement: "I feel for him because he moved to Barcelona to have another exciting chapter in his career.
"At the moment I am pretty sure he is in shock. The impact he had on the Premier League and football was incredible. The goals he scored and the importance of them.
"He scored a very important one at least. He was a great player. One of the best I ever faced."
i know we like to mock liverpool for their self promoting ‘emotion’ and this means more etc but you have to say that the respect between the managers is a lot more complimentary and sportsmanlike than the Ferguson/Wenger/Benitez/Mourinho years

I think those 4 are responsible for the issues the England team had when you listen to Lampard and Rio talk about their friendship turning sour.

possibly why England are doing so much better now.

Sad news but better this than something horrible like Foe or Erickson. It was a privilege to have him with us for a whole decade, the very best of him, some wonderful memories, the goals, 'that' goal, all of it. Just brilliant. Thanks Kun!!

Bless him!! I was tearing up watching that. The guy was a real professional and one off the best to kick a ball. I was begging mancini to bring him on at Wembley charity Shield, but his debut against Swansea was unbelievable I couldn't believe what I had seen! Who was this guy who called himself KUN?!
He will go down in history off providing the most famous goal ever scored in the top division! I wish him the best and I hope he's successful in what ever he plans next I'm sure he will come to Manchester occasionally to say hello!
