I was a bit suspicious of the "he's got the athleticism of someone much younger" line in one of the reports. Sounds like something his agent or mum would say. But maybe I'm being cynical.

I don’t buy that Ramos is too old for CB. Chelsea just won the UCL with Thiago Silva, who is older and in his best day wasn’t as good as Ramos. Mind you, based on personality, he might be the player still active that I dislike the most. But given that he would be okay with rotation, and as a free agent, I think it could be a perfect idea

Probably won’t happen but if Laporte is hell bent on leaving this summer and we’re sceptical of how professional he’ll be if we keep hold of him against his wishes then if someone coughed up £70 mil and we moved him on we would be crazy not to take Ramos for a couple of seasons on a free.

Would free up a load more cash to get in priority targets this summer and he would be more than capable of doing what Laporte has done for us this season and also brings that hardened win at all costs mentality.

Sadly our CB prospects like Mbete and THB are 2 years away from potentially coming in as 3/4th choice CB so would be a good move for all parties if indeed there was any truth in it. FWIW I really want Laporte to stay here and fight as he’s a class act, time will tell!

I don’t know, he wants a 2 year deal, but Perez has a policy of not giving players over thirty solid contracts. He won’t give Ramos a 2 year deal due to this policy, Ramos been asking since October. Perez still refusing to give Ramos 2 years since it would break Reals policy. So it could be true. Perez wants a younger Spanish CB as a replacement.
