Sergio Ramos

Garry Hooper was a goal machine in that league, therefore it's a joke.

What have Vidal-Cleverley got to do with the Scottish league being gash? If you're comparing Scott Brown to Cleverley, then I'd understand where you're coming from, but the one you opted for is odd.

I'm making a point that you judge a player on his performances, not the league he plays in. If you want to make daft analogies, Denayer put in a better performance in the San Siro this season than Vidal did.

21 year old who performs well against the best teams in the league, superb in possession with huge scope for improvement, or an almost 30 year old who's got an awful disciplinary record, and can't establish himself at centre half in his peak? Whoever signs Stones will get a far better deal and quality/longevity of service than United will when they sign Ramos.

Denayer is better than John Stones? Based on what exactly? I like Denayer, but they're currently incomparable. Stones-Denayer would be a well balanced partnership moving forward.

Stones isn't just potential; he has all the tools to become world class in the right environment, but bare minimum he's already a very good Premier League central defender.

Looks miles better to me yes. Stones physically stronger bit better in the air, Denayer on another planet in all aspects of football.

Based on what ? Based on the fact that Phil Jones is sometimes motm for Manchester Utd. Paul Mcshane is sometimes Hull's hero Nedum Onuaha was oustanding in zome of City's bigfest games etc etc. I'm not saying stones will turn out like them, I'm saying he plays in a team unit he is familiar with.

When he played outside that unit, at under 21 level recently he looked like a big stupid **** with no talent or positional sense.

Denayer meanwhile was marshalling Belgium's defence vs the French 1st team & has been excellent at full international level.

Denayer IS better than Stones. The only question is whether he is suited to the Prem or whether like Mascherano & imo Otamendi, Ramos Piquet & plenty of others, he is more suited to Spanish type football. The Prem is unique. We shall see if he can hack it.
But ability wise, no comparison.

£40m for Sahko's back-up in the French national team? Neville, always very complimentary about us, summed Mangala up perfectly a few months back. He's not a top defender; at his age Terry, Ferdinand and Nesta were top performers in the Champions League, whereas Mangala has been chaotic.
You crack on with your hatred of Mangala. You will be eating lots of humble pie next season.

BTW, what has £40m got to do with it?

Imo Verane is one of the best prospects in world football. By comparison to Denayer in the France v Belgium game, he looked a complete twat.

If Denayer was at Real Madrid or Barca, they would be involving him in their first team regularly.

I may be wrong but I doubt they would be rushing to swap him for John Stones.

Mangala was actually very solid for us towards the back end of last season and actually looked a much better player when partnering Martin Demichelis as opposed to Vincent Kompany. I think he'll be excellent for us next season, give him chance.

Should I be playing FIFA 2015 to keep up to date with all these players I have never even heard of? There are not enough hours in the day to watch every league and have so much info on players worldwide, is there?

No, but there's plenty of time to watch Celtic and Lille at the weekend to keep an eye on Denayer and Lopes.

I have been arm deep in the Ladies world cup and the Copa America I'd have to be sat on a commode dialling food in if I watched any more.

I feel sorry for the players husbands at the women's world cup ( for those that have husbands and not wives)....being left to eat takeaway every night, going to work with wrinkled shirts and no dishes to feed the dog as they are all in the sink...those women have a fucking nerve....

If I am not mistaken the England team leave mainly WAGS at home like the mens team.

sounds like we not interested in bidding for Ramos....

Marca: City and Bayern were approached by the entourage of Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos (29) but neither club wants to pursue the player.
Well that's disappointing.

Kompany - no guarantee he will recover his form as much as people say it's an obvious certainty
Demichelis - brilliant but not exactly young
Mangala - still adapting, promising at times but no guarantee
Denayer - no idea how he'll react to the first team picture. Realistically could cope with another year on loan

Id be all over Ramos, who'd be the best defender at the club - unless Vinnie refound his absolute peak form.

I feel like we spent a lot of money on it last year so now we're not prepared to admit CB is a huge issue.

Sergio Ramos is not a good defender we would be wasting our time buying him,Mangala like most players tend to take a season to get comfortable he has a great work ethic i can certainly see him doing well next year along side Vinnie.

I'd imagine Mourinho, Pellegrini, Del Bosque, Ancelotti can pick out a good defender.

Which of those replaced or dropped Ramos?

I agree he would certainly add to our squad, I'm not sure if what he would add extra is worth the fee with other more important areas that desperately need strengthening.
I just feel like Delph and Ramos for example solve a lot more problems than just Wilshere alone, if we did have 40m burning a hole in our pocket.

Feel like question marks hang over every defender we have.
