Sergio should go down more easily. Discuss

Thats a ridiculous statement... I'm sorry.

Sergio is one of the best players in the world, because he is able to keep his feet and is incredibly strong. Do you want him out there, second guessing himself, as to whether he should go down or not...? I dont.

It isn`t a ridiculous statement at all, because the OP condones feigning as suggested in his post.

Both Sergio and some guy called Messi have really low centres of gravity and are incredibly difficult to knock off the ball. As the OP rightly points out, they both do their best to stay on their feet instead of going down as soon as they feel the slightest contact (or, as other nameless players do, looking for some sort of contact).

Do we want divers in our team? NO WAY.

I'm saying it is a ridiculous statement, because Sergio plays on instinct, which is what makes him so good. If you try and force something into his game, he won't be the same player.

Personally, I love Sergio's honesty and really like the fact that his instinct is always to get on with the game.

I dont think you are reading the Op`s post very clearly. He isn`t asking him to dive !!

It was staying on his feet instead of going down easily that resulted in our first goal last night. Choosing to go down is cheating in my book.

That's why Maradona was so good as well, I'll never forget the goal against us in 86 but also the one against Belgium as well absolutely stunning goal. As for Aguero going down against QPR if be had Balotelli would now be the hero of City with the winner.

No, he's asking him to think about going down under a challenge, when at the moment the only thought in his head is to drive on and shrug off defenders.

I'll simply point out, if no-one has already, that the greatest moment in this club's recent history, involved Sergio ploughing into the area, staying on his feet when his ankles were tapped before hammering the ball home. Game, set and title! Aren't you just glad we didn't buy Ashley Young instead.
