Inter-Juventus was a very enjoyable game with lots of intensity and fast-paced action and good refereeing, letting the game run by avoiding blowing the whistle for hard but correct tackles.
The first half was thoroughly dominated by Juventus possession-wise, mainly with Pirlo pinging passes from quarterback-position, while Inter seemed they didn't know what to to with the ball once they had it. Vidal was in great form, displayed especially in the brilliant setup for Tevez' 1-0, where he back-heeled the ball past his inter defender, squaring it to Tevez who only had to poke it in. Vidal had a couple of venomous shots on goal blocked by the excellent Handanovic before Pogba showed his class, cutting through the Inter defence with an elastico but 1-on-1, Handanovic again saved the Nerazzurri.
In the second half, Juventus' pressure continues but Podolski's debut for Inter early in the second half brought better balance to his team and soon after, Icardi manages to drop a shoulder on his marker and poke the ball past an outrushing Buffon. Inter started to believe and got several chances to take the lead, Icardi squandering their best ones. Juventus went close with a patented Pirlo swirling free-kick but Handanovic stretches and keeps the ball out. Four minutes from the end, Kovacic sees a straight red for a studs-first challenge on Lichtsteiner. This prompts a furious Bianconeri final offensive but Inter ride out the storm despite a couple of scary moments.
It ends 1-1, leaving Roma only 1 point behind the Italian champions who next weekend must face the hard task of going to the Sao Paolo stadium to meet Napoli. Inter will cherish this point as a sign of progress which will give them confidence to pursue Europa League spots but it's too early to dream of a Champions League spot.
Pogba was Juventus' best player while Handanovic is Man of the Match.
