Does anyone seriously think that without FFP transfer fee and wage restrictions Robin Van Persie wouldn't have been banging goals in for us this season?

Yup.. Because United matched our offer but could also guarantee a starting position.
Not what I heard and ive posted this before. It was to do with us shifting a striker and Marwood was told to sell before we could buy RVP. Marwood in turn couldn't sell a virus and RVP got so fed up waiting after he publically said he was leaving that he then told us to sod off. We were RVPs original first choice even before the window opened but, we kept him hanging on like a chump for too long. Hence why Mancini kept banging on about Marwood to speed up. It's all our fault RVP is at united and that's it in a nutshell.

Mate, I would have made the same choice as RVP instead of competing with four high profile strikers. When Utd matched our offer it was a certain thing.

So would I. But I'd play crap for them!

Had nothing to with being one of four or any price match. We pissed him around and that's it. Marwood made him stand in a queue like he was desperate to join us. United were always a backup choice.

All this talk about Van Pursestrings is a fallacy.

At no stage did we make an official offer to Arsenal. This was because we weren't willing to pay them more than £15m, and they knew it.

Personal terms of £250k a week were not the problem, because of the low fee we wanted to pay, the player and his agent were happy with the terms.

Ferguson was given a mandate to beat City to his signature at all costs.

Van Persie was told by Arsenal they would rather keep him for the remaining 12 months of his deal, than sell him for less than £30m- calling his bluff.

He had nowhere else to go until United were hoodwinked by Wenger, using our own distanced interest and Juventus'.

Wenger is many things, but on this, he played the perfect game.

Only then, did he listen to the little boy inside.

We definitely had an agreement in place with RVP over 12 months ago.

This is what I'd heard. I'm not ITK by any stretch but my 'source' named Marwood as the reason for RVP not signing for us.

-- Sat Feb 09, 2013 12:25 pm --

An unfortunate phrase since it looks like they may well have been hoodwinked into winning the League.

My thoughts exactly. Financially ManUre will get all they spent on Van Perise back and more and they have the added kudos of taking the title from us into the bargain unless a miracle prevails.......

Playing hardball over the fee for RVP has probably cost us the League, and therefore much more money than we were ever likely to save on his transfer fee. Not to mention the cost in terms of rejuvenating a dispirited United. Utter lunacy on our part. No wonder Mancini was going pear shaped.

can everyone just chill the fuck out.

It's match day..Stop flapping about our finances.

Let the turkeys vote for christmas. It really is just going to strengthen our position.

We are loaded and it's brilliant.
