Serious question relating to us and FFP(update P17)

Well theoretically what we spent in totally could have just about gotten us Hazard and Van Persie so I don't think there is a problem in how much we have to spend, just in HOW we spend it... which we're all praying is now solved with the arrival of the smart Spaniards.

Can´t see it clipping our wings in any way whatsoever..

We already got the biggest wage bill of them all, who cares if we can just add a minor percentage to it as our concern is to reduce it anyway.
As for the £105m restriction it´s absolutely pointless as we are on course to comply with the much stricter Uefa FFPR anyway.

If not, that's great.

Neither really, I think it was because Txiki wasn´t here yet... He´ll build the squad according to his wishes.
But first he must get rid of a batch of players to free up wages.
Fact is that Khaldoon told us years ago that we would not be spending like we did then for long.
As for the UEFA FFPR City have supported it from the start..Not that many here on BM turned anything but a blind eye on that.

But then there´s plenty on here that regard Sheikh Mansour as their personal Santa Claus.. lol

Yes it would have done, the five players we signed probably have a combined wage amounting to what RVP and Hazard would want between them.

Before FFP we would've probably signed all 7, so it has clipped are wings.

If that had not happened we would be top now possibly.

The monies that we have to offset to bring down the losses, allow others to steal a march.

I don't see the owner as Santa one more good year of player acquisitions would have put us out of sight, but the rules have hindered us a bit.

You realise that at a certain point of player saturation people refuse to sign for us..?

RVP, Rossi just to name two.

RVP would have made FIVE strikers plus Guidetti.

Can't see any way Khaldoon would have sanctioned that FFP or not, it would have been ridiculous. Surely we would have to ship one or two out first but we didn't.

I'm not advocating spend, spend, spend and I'm well aware that the owner would not keep digging into his pockets to fund us so extravagantly in the long run, but one more year of big investment may have put us out of sight for a while.

I believe he would have pushed on with more top notch signings (including RVP at any cost) after the league win if FFP were not in place. To cement our position, and then, reined the spending in when we were established top dog.

You think he chose to standstill, I think he didn't spend due to FFP.

London is one of the wealthiest Cities in the world. People doing the same job in London earn 30-40% more than their counterparts outside of the capital. East Manchester is one of the most deprived districts in Western Europe. As a knock on effect, the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal can comfortably charge 40-50% more for standard tickets and season tickets than us. The amount they can make from the lucrative corporate match day revenue is even more weighted in their favour.

In the past you could take a "that's life" opinion on that, but now the rules have changed which gives those 3 London clubs a huge competitive advantage over us based solely on where they are located. It's another example of how much this stinks, out of all 20 Premier League clubs, we're the ones that get the rawest deal by a mile.

Totally agree. That's why arsenal and chelsea fans can afford such ridiculous prices and the clubs know it.

I just can see how any one thinks this is a good thing

Scudamore says "it will mean that any new investor has to take a long term approach" well that is what most clubs do but what happens when a gem is unearthed then a big club comes along offers them more money chance of success and off they go

All the cluibs have done now is formally agree to this plan and from now on no-one can do what City and Chelsea have done so the premier league has formally voted to go back to the bad old days of the Sky Four its just now with a different four and no-one can gatecrash...ever!!!!
