Yes this may be a bit "knee jerk" but it's worth debating.

Looking at the table IF United win their two games in hand they will be NINE points clear of us & should they beat us that will make it TWELVE.

Seriously everyone is it good enough that considering that United have hardly made any further investment & can't splash out on players & comparing this to our mass expenditure & recruitment that we could find ourselves in that position?.
Surely we should be doing better than this?.

I sadly fear that we could end up 15 points adrift come May & we will be in the same situation as last season, competing with Spurs for 4th.
The team has to start showing more belief & desire in great abundance.

You've made the mistake of thinking that because we have spent 400 million and they haven't, that we are automatically better than the rags. You seem to forget that 95% of this rag team (currently unbeaten in 22 games) have played in TWO champions league finals.

They've still got Valencia and Scholes coming back from injury soon, this is the Granny shaggers main supply line. Only a footballing know-nowt would say they aren't a good side.

My god its a new team there will still be ahead of arsenal and chelsea then who have been playing tether for god knows how many years

Fucking hate being a city fan nowadays when we lose its the end of the world,

yes we have spent a lot of money and we will get there stop believing the hype and just believe in city the club which every one has loved for years with or with out the money.

It takes time for a squad to come together, it takes even longer for them to get the correct mentality and focus to be genuine title contenders, everything is in place, we have the quality, a top manager who knows what it takes but this year is not out year, next year may well be, the rags will win it comfortably this year with Arse second maybe us third imo, patience.

I feel we should be doing better than this. Our return on investment is pathetic when you consider the pricetags on some of these players.

I think I need to log off.....

They have, from the top down, years of fucking experience at winning this title. Experienced gained as a unit.

No matter what any team spends it's gonna be hard to beat that in double quick time. In fact a whole influx of new players actually makes it harder in the immediate short-term.

The reason Chelsea managed it is they had the best manager in the world, and a less competitive premier league back then.

As for competing for the top four...let's keep this in perspective - at the moment that is a battle we are emphatically fucking winning. Even if Spurs win their game in hand (an assumption we'd be nervy about making if the boot was on the other foot) - they will still need us to fuck up and drop points TWICE, one of which has to be an actual loss, in order to draw level. That's assuming no further fuck ups from them because that would negate one of those instantly, too, of course.

newblue - don't fall into the trap of the non blue mass by thinking we should be winning the title cos we spent loads of money. We are dissapointed that we have lost as we now believe we are going to win most games. Can't ever remember feeling like that (except perhaps one of the promotion seasons) so keep the faith and give the team time to fully gel. Losing games grows team spirit and valuable experience as a team.

Smile blues - was gutted today but remain positive.

If we beat Brum then that's 3 points from 2 games! - OK result
Better than 2 draws and 2 points!

We have to be realistic - Champions League would be amazing for this season!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves

Sorry to have to say this, chaps, and please don't get this the wrong way but mentally Utd is (still) a good team, City is (still) a collection of good players.

That is the main and, so far, the decisive difference, even though I do believe that if you somehow could assign a "quality score" to each player (like in fifa11 :), City would clearly outweigh Utd.

Yes, building a team is a process that lasts, but compared to the Wolves match, tonight was a step in the wrong direction.

On the bright side, this team is much more mature and consequently more successful than it was last season, so I would love to have a time machine and transport myself a year ahead... :-)

Mancini is certainly the right manager, he too is fallible (in my view, we saw quite a bit of that tonight as well), but this is not going to happen overnight.
