Last season he played about 3/4 of the season as one of the holding players but we mainly used the 4-2-2-2. When we did go 4-2-3-1 he took the advanced role.

This season he's played about 50/50 Holding and Advanced, in all sorts of formations,

Well. I'm astonished!

You'll have me imagining that Touré played the fulcrum position, which allowed him to collect the ball from deep, if necessary, but ultimately interchange with other midfielders when HE wanted to.

In fact, this was the paramount success behind his partnership with Mr Silva, who often sat in (along with Barry) as Touré marauded forward.

My mistake...

He didn't play in the hole in the season before last.

The fact is we were criticised for playing three holding midfielders, as we played a more defensive game that season.

He did play the more advanced of the three midfielders, but that is very different than playing directly behind the striker.

Toure played as the highest midfielder of a 3 man pairing. Whether that's in the hole or not it really is the same thing when attacking. His goals were immense that year.

Been done to death this.

Saturday was impossible with injuries and suspension forcing RM's hand. I think generally though he's more effective in that forward role in the last stages of the game.

Some of you people will say black is white to make a point, I swear to god.

Truly incredible stuff.

LOL I guess nobody can put their point of argument across unless it is to agree with you.

Why don't you supply the video evidence to back up your argument?

Possibly because it doesn't exist!

For whatever reason, Mancini continues to shackle YaYa by not allowing him to roam forward. He is most dangerous when moving forward and linking up with the forwards or putting himself in scoring position. City is currently playing with an ineffective midfield which means all our outstanding forwards don't get the ball enough.

Would love to see YaYa and David Silva as attacking midfielders with Barry/Zabo as defensive midfielder.

Comments anyone?

You're quite right ....

maybe we could start a new chant to the tune of Rozallas hit song from 1991 ... 'Everybody's free' (to feel good)

Yayaaas freee .. to score goals
Yayaaas freee ... to score goals !!!!

You can't really see in them highlight but that game stands out, he was basically playing as a striker, he was much more attacking that season than last year.
